They probably will have turned and you'll have snow, but it depends where you're going. Vancouver is more likely to have rain in December than snow!

Are you ladies still here? Just found this thread...wow, I'm not the only Canadian here ;) I'm from Vancouver and I actually miss the cold and wish I could bundle up in a scarf and touque! Everyone thinks summer has sucked on The Gold Coast- but I wish it was colder!! Ever since I had bub my body temperature guage is all out of wack- always hot and break into a sweat out of nowhere...grrr! Sorry for the spastic venting but I really thought I was going crazy LOL!
PS, Hi my name is Courtney :)

Hi Courtney :) There are a few crazy canadians hanging out on this forum. I've been in Australia nearly 7 years and still miss the cold sometimes. I actually went home for Christmas and had a lovely time. Though when I got back and told everyone it was a glorious -5oC, most Aussies thought I was MAD! lol
I miss the fall colours too! I've lived in Perth for 2 1/2 yrs now and am from Vancouver.
I am hoping to go back this year for a visit...trying to figure out best time to go...September for the fall weather and mountainbiking...December for Christmas and possible snow (we would get up a mountain for it if we had to!) or wait all the way for January2009 to have off peak airfare and still get winter.
I am dying for a white christmas...
And I am so sick of the 40 degree weeks we've had most of Feb. here in Perth...it is as bad as when I lived in -40 in Northern Alberta and you are just stuck inside!
Anyhoo:ecomcity:
Nice to know there are other Canucks in Oz...

Hi pkbub  There is actually a Canadian Club in Perth, or there was a few years ago and I'm assuming they're still active. Try http://www.geocities.com/canadawa01/ They do social activities through the year, usually including a Canada Day party.
You're a mountain biker? I gave up when we moved to Perth, I hated the sand. But if you go south a bit there are some good areas to ride in. We went to Dwellingup for a mtn biking weekend with some friends. I was preg so didn't ride, but the rest of them seemed to have fun.
Thanks for the info! I looked at their website last year and discovered most of their functions are farther north than we are...Would be fun to celebrate Canada Day with a bunch of Canadians again though;)
DH and I used to mountainbike the north shore and Whistler together all the time...we both really miss it. We only went out once since moving here...DH even sold his bike and needs a new one now. I know he would love to get back into it. I'm not as hardcore though. I've heard there are some great places down south.
Where are you from???

I grew up in Toronto suburbia. Most of our mtn bike riding was around the North Bay area. I woudn't have the technical skills for Vancouver's north shore! But we knew a few canadians in Perth who were from Vancouver and rode there all the time.
Bikes and bike parts in Aussie are expensive, as you'll find out. DH usually imported the bits he wanted from the USA
