For those who have pockets ect that are made with 100% cotton backed with PUL, have you had any troubles with wicking?

Yup,

they wick quite badly.

Good for showing off and small day time sessions but not for sleeps or going out for a while.

I have a fair few GK funtimes in my stash, as well as some I've made of a cotton outer and hidden PUL layer.
I've found the ones with the hidden layer perform a bit better, except they tend to wick around the legs a bit.
As LT said, they are ok for daytime, showing off cute prins, but they do wick, definitely not for nighttime. The cotton also thins and fades much faster than polyester.

I've got a Greenkids Pocket and I've had no issues at all with wicking. I wouldn't use it overnight, it's not designed for that, but during the day it's fine. Today it held in a revolting gastro explosion with no leaks or anything.

I think the main thing to remember is anything can wick if you leave it on long enough. If the nappy is well designed and thoughout the wicking should be minimal, if the nappy isn't overfull.

I find the wicking gets worse over time - I've got a couple that wick pretty badly now (which is a shame because the print is really cool!).

Yep. Only the tiniest amount of moisture seems to be needed on the edges before it all creeps around the rest of the nappy and then it's sopping.

I just have one print pocket now for that reason. I save it for special occasions :D It's a Green Kids, so the suedecloth lining is nicely rolled out at the legs which helps, but I'm still gentler with it when washing/drying because I don't want the pul to bubble (it seems to separate from cotton pretty easily) and I don't want the print to fade.

I got rid of mine for the same reason, they do not last even an hour on DS, I was a sposie user for too long I guess and I expect my cloth nappies to last about 3 hours. I would be keen to try a PUL with a print made into it as oppoesed to laminated. They would work I would think.

Anyone know of nappies like that? I love the look of prints!

The PUL is just the laminate on the fabric, it's a film applied with high temperatures. But the type of print pul you are talking about wanting is polyester print pul- every now and then I see a nappy put out with poly print (plain coloured pul is usually poly and of course there's heaps of that around).

I have always liked the Swaddlebee organic velour side-snap pockets, and I do recall seeing poly print versions of that coming out on one of the US sites. Not sure if The Wee Wuns are getting them in, but I'd ask seeing as they usually sell SB's here in Aus.

Other then that- Minky prints are pretty much the same thing (laminated polyester) but sooo much nicer!!! :D Mmmmm love that minky goodness :D

i only like cotton pul if it is sewn with an inner that doesnt absorb moisture, and also with the pul not touching the skin. less chance of wicking that way!

a good booster that draws the moisture away quickly also helps!
