View Full Version : Buying a nappy bucket for drypailing - any suggestions?
Hi
I am just getting organised for using cloth nappies when my baby arrives (bought some Pea pods recently) and still need to buy a nappy bucket for drypailing. What do you recommend? Is it necessary to buy the more expensive special nappy buckets from baby shops? Someone even told me recently that you can ask at your local bakery to buy their flour containers with the sealed lids for a few dollars - and they were great! Thought that sounded interesting … :-)

I just got a nice pink one for MJ from Big W with a lid. I'm sure it was less than $10

I use a soaking bucket which I was given with a laundrey set of that pastel pink vintage design iykwim.
It has a lid, seals well & is quite big. I started using this as I didn't have a nappy bucket & I don't use it to soak really & it worked well. Not sure how much they are though as it was a birthday present. I just keep it in the laundrey.

I use a clear plastic container with lid that I bought at a new years eve carnival a few years back....wait, it had fairy floss in it...LOL :D
It fits about 4 nappies, I wash everyday so it's just perfect. I thought about buying one from BigW or where ever but this one does the job so why waste the money!!! $17-20 hah! that's a peapod LOL
I just use a 15lt swing top bin, too easy

I use a swing top lid garbage bin too with a pul liner, its fantastic, no problems with dirty smelly nappy pail because the liner goes in the wash every time with my nappies and no lid to fiddle around with i just throw it all in :D
I like the sound of the rubbish bin, MummyCharmzy! But where do you get PUL liners for them from?

I just use a swing top rubbish bin. Cost me about $7 I think. I got a white one and put lots of stickers on it so it looks cute. :)
Dont have a liner and so far no issue with smells. I have a small cloth dipped in essential oil taped to the lid so the bin is always smelling like vanilla.

Go for a big swing top bin ... Im pondering getting one for upstairs as im currently using a bucket upstairs & one downstairs but a bin would be better !
I got my buckets from Bunning which are 22 litres they are just large basic white buckets with lids. I paid $5 - $10 from memory !

Mine was given to me about 4 years ago, and has a well-fitting lid and is huge.
A really good thing about it though is the strong handle- I cart many bucketfuls of water around the backyard every day- it weighs a ton but that bucket and handle is so tough and strong, I can't see how I could break it. I don't like how the excersise is building UP my arms though... what happened to them getting thinner??!

You can get a Monkey Doodlez Bin Liner from theweewuns $33
