Hi everyone,
I just found this site while reading PP and thought I might have a look. This is my first time in a chat room (so pls be nice :p ). I'm the mother of Harry 5mths and he has just started on solids and at the moment he just spits it out or lets it dribble out of his mouth. Is anyone else having the same problem and what did you do about it? I know he's only experienting and I'm fine with that but eventually he needs to start eating some. Anyhoo, talk to you all soon. Bye Harry'smum. :)

Jakob wasn't truly ready for solids until he was about 6 1/2 - 7 months. I just kept offering solids until he was interested. Harry will guide you when he is ready. I am still having problems with Jakob at 11 1/2 months! Teething is horrible :( He has 2 eye teeth coming through and a couple of molars as well. Makes dinner time uncomfortable. Good luck with everything :)
I started Madeline on solids at 6 mths and she also wasn't really interested until around 7.5mths - but she certainly didn't look back once she got into it - she will eat anything and lots of it! Keep at it - he'll get the hang of it - and try a variety of things (introduced one at a time though) a number of times as he will like it one day and not the next and then like it again! They all do it at their own pace - as long as he gains weight and is active & healthy I wouldn't stress about it too much during the first 12 months.
Good luck.

I agree with Kim and Sarah, Grace didn't start solids till 6mths, and it took a while before she was really into it. She has only started to eat 3meals a day at 12 mths! So don't be worried.

Thanks everyone for your advice. I will keep going with everything. Now that I have started I'm not going to stop just because he may have a few bad days with it. Thanks again. Harry'smum
I've just started Eloise (she's just over 5 months) on solids with her lunchtime feed and she's going fine now. I kept trying about every second day for about 2 weeks until she got used to the spoon and the new tastes. I also found that she liked food more if it was cold from the fridge (soothes her teething pains too) or at room temperature. I first tried taking the chill off in the microwave and she blew raspberries at me! :p She hated rice cereal - even the one with apple, but loves pureed pears & apples.
Keep trying - as everyone else has said, he'll eat it when he's ready!!
Cheers
