Hello, I was wondering does anyone have a good recipe for royal icing?

And does anyone know, is it ok to still use the recipe for royal icing with raw egg whites in it?

My Aunty says you cannot:confused:

i need an icing that is going to set hard, to hold my gingerbread house together.

Thanking you in advance.

Hmm I'm not sure, I buy prepackaged royal Icing mix from the local cake decorator store, so all I do is add water to it!

Not sure where u are in Perth but the shop I go to is in Vic Park.

I always make my icing for my gingerbread house with icing sugar, egg white and lemon juice...never had illness or probs yet. Wouldn't think royal icing would be strong enough??

We use 200ml icing sugar, ½ egg white and a few drops of vinegar for ours and it's just perfect.

Here's ours from last year, it had built in lights as well.. really cute.
