View Full Version : Reusable Swim Nappies
Who has some good ones and where didja get 'em?
We're having a beach holiday soon and, while we're generally sposie users here, the jumping in and out of the ocean/pool and the waste of all those disposable swim nappies would make even me feel bad.
how much does Asher weigh? there are some gorgeous ones at nurture nappies at the moment either swimmer nappies or swimmer nappies in boardies for boys! Theyre $18 which isnt that expensive
You know that you can wring out/wash and dry the disposable ones and use them again (as long as he hasn't done jobs in them)....
I bought a pkt for DS when he started swimming lessons and did this with them - after a year I still hadnt used about half of them.
i use MCNs but didnt want them getting wrecked by chlorine at swimming lessons so i got a $10 swim nappy from k-mart (near the pilchers etc). look like little speedos
I saw some cute swim style nappies in big w near the hats for bubs
A Bum Genius pocket nappy without the insert makes a good swim nappy. That's what I use when I take the boys to the beach.

Beanster - I have some old GK's nappies which could be used as swim nappies infact thats what i planned to keep them for with Squeak.
The PUL is a little worse for wear but otherwise its a nappy that will cover his bits & will be fine for a holiday !
If you want one just lemme know :D

I had seen them before I posted this thread! I was hoping someone would tell me they were good :D
Ally: you used words but I understood not a thing :p Whadda PUL inna GK anna worsea wear? Eh? Use small non-nappy-addict wordsies please :D
Roxy: thanks for the Little Swimmers tip :) I'll have a look-see when I'm next at the shops.
I have used the green kids as a swim nappy before and it really didn't work for us. As they are so water proof they fill up with water so badly.
I got mine off ozebaby a while ago. They were only about $15.
Have a nice holiday! :D

I second the Kmart idea... we have some Fluffies brand ones from there and they're great! And they were only $10, which is even greater :)
I have the little swimmer boardie ones from K-Mart too cost about $7.
If you still have that Anytime I gave you then just use that, that's all we ever use.
Its just to catch the poo so you don't stuff it with anything.
See, I didn't know you could just use an ordinary cloth nappy. I don't know why I thought that wouldn't work but I did (think that it wouldn't work).

Apparently the PUL (waterproof layer) can be damaged by the chlorine if you use a MCN. I've only heard this, haven't actually tried it. If you aren't using it much as a nappy though it would probably be worth it though - save you buying a special one :)

Yep this is the case which is why you would only really use an oldie or one you dont care about ( if thats possible  )
Beany - Ok i will bring the bloomin thing along this week to the meet & you can take it to try if it doesnt work no harm done. The fact that this one has seen so many days of use means the waterproofing is starting to wear thin so the filling up of the nappy with water shouldnt happen.
Thanks Ally :D You're lovely and not scary at all! :D :D
i use an Itti bitti as a swim nappy. without the inserts. its a great fit.
ive never liked them as a nappy but ive kept one just for swimming.
