With my first bub who DIDNT have reflux he was straight into cradle then cot however Jordan is a different story all together.

He never would lie content in the cradle even if I elevated it. Apart from sleeping skin to skin position with me (which is beautiful but kills my arm and back) he will only settle in how rocker which is quite big thankfully. But I know he cant sleep there forever and trying to get him to sleep in cradle now is not happening. He continually wakes up squealing even when its elevated.

Where does your reflux bub sleep?

My Bubba sleeps in one of the fisher price bouncers. One with the vibrator which helps to soother her. My first bubba was the same. Sometimes I prop her up on some pillows when she sleeps with me in bed. You can just put towels on the bouncer to catch the vomit. Seems to be the right angle to help her sleep.

DD1 hated the cradle, slept much better in her rocker, and DD2 also hates the cradle, she sleeps in the rocker very upright or on our bed or in her snuggle bed.

eventually DD1 after co sleeping for sooo long went into her own cot...

With Boof i thought he was a colicky baby with mild reflux but dealing with Squeak im now thinking he had it more severe than first thought.

Boof slept in his rocker through the day it was the only way he would sleep unless i was holding or carrying him in the sling. Otherwise at nite he would sleep in his cot which i had raised a little & only on his side. He hated co-sleeping.

Squeak will only sleep through the day in a sling with me or on his side or tummy in the pram. If i get the chance to lay down with him he will co-sleep with me propped on my arm if that makes sense. At nite he sleeps on his side from advice from the doctor & CHN to help with the reflux in his bassinette. When he goes into the cot he will more than likely be a tummy sleeper as he is much more settled this way.

Have you tried him on his side or tummy ? I know its not really advised with SIDS but with a reflux baby all things get thrown out the window to help them settled & be more comfortable.

Mikenzee slept with me holding her upright for a whie that was a night mare, then we got her a AR pillow its a really high wedge with a harness we was ableto swadle her and keep her up right it was great also helped with her apnea as well, which was great, now that she is moving around the AR pillow isnt safe unless we are watching her so we have to prop her cot matress up, we also tried the sleeping in car seat and a bouncer and a swing etc but they all put to much presure ion her tummy and made her worse

As a reflux mum you try everything dont you its such a night mare

My heart goes out to you... Reflux is horrible... For everyone...
My ds sleeps in his cot which is elevated. He lays on his left side as my paed said doing this will prevent weight on his little belly...Laying on the right side the bowel pushes on the stomach and can exacerbate the problem in some. ds refuses to sleep on his back.
Fortunately i have never had a problem with him in his cot...
I hope this helps... All the best... x x:)

Hi Jorbs,

DD sleeps in her Amby Baby Hammock too (at night), during the day she sleeps in her elevated cot on her side also...however she's learnt how to roll onto her tummy and she slept that way for around 3 hours today (must be comfy for her). Also she sleeps in her Bassinette (which I must put a stop too as she is rolling into the sides and getting stuck) and her Aquarium Swing Chair. Sometimes she even likes it in her Car Capsule if she's fallen asleep in the car.
As long as she is elevated she is happy, or lately on her tummy which is a bit of a worry I know. I go check on her so many times and try not to roll her back or else she wakes up. Whatever works I say.

Speak to you soon.

We tried everything too as from about 3 weeks he wouldn't tolerate the bassinette. But, the good news was that by about 7 weeks when the medication was really kicking in he started to be able to sleep at a level much closer to flat. We tried the baby rocker, a baby cocoon with the head of it raised on a small cushion (that was his most common way of sleeping), and the bassinette (which had high walls) with a rolled up towel to raise the head end. It's a challenge, but it most definitely does get better! :hugs:

Thanks Ladies!

He slept a full night and didnt wake in his cradle last night. I tightly wrapped him in a cot sheet instead of a a muslin that he wriggles out of so perhaps that made the difference!

I really want one of those Amby baby hammocks but Geez they are not cheap are they?

Got a quick min to reply to you Leanne....

I hired our Amby Baby Hammock for around $65 for 3 months...which is about all I would use it for anyway, even though they say you can use it for much longer.

I just googled Amby Baby Hammock hire and tracked down a lady nearest to where I live.

How exciting that Jordan slept all night for you, that is amazing, well done Mummy.

Yes you can use it for well past 12 months I think...

I hired mine for 3 months, but bubby will be around 5 months old when I have to give it back. If she really likes it still or doesn't sleep well anywhere else I would look into re-hiring it anyway.

I do find that some mornings she likes to come into bed with me and snuggle though, so I have a Tetra bed in my bed for her because when I feel really tired I don't want to roll over onto her. I also elevate that with a folded up blanket underneath or hard flat type pillow.
