Cloth or Disposable nappies with Circumcision?

We're getting Gabriel circumcised in a couple of weeks.. and I was wondering, should I keep using cloth nappies during his healing period, or switch to disposables for the time?

I wasn't using cloth when the boys were done, but I'm concerned the fabric will irritate his penis...


but then I think well cloth nappies are changed more regularly, so he's not sitting in wee.... which could irritate the penis (besides being gross)

So would it be better to use cloth with soft fleece liners, or disposables.

I'll also be using a bededine cream, how will this effect my nappies??? (should I just use terry flats and steer clear of my MCN's just in case??)

I don't think it will make a difference which you use. If you are putting cream on though use liners with your MCN as yeah they probably will be ruined otherwise.

I def think cloth would be better, both my bro's were circ'd and mum had them in cloth no prob. albeit they weren't MCN's but still cloth! :)

If i were you i would make sure you had some good liners to use in the MCN's through the healing period as you need to use vaseline on the nappy to make sure there isnt any rubbing etc. Otherwise i would be wary of using them through this time incase they get ruined.

I had Hamish done on Monday and the dr said that disposables are the best as there is more room in the front of them. Hamish has been fine wearing disposables, no rubbing at all.

I would assume that the chemicals in the disposables once crystallised could irritate the penis, but then again I wouldn't know because my sons aren't done. Just an assumption here.

If you were to use cloth nappies then getting raw silk liners would definitely help with the healing process.

Hamish has had no irritation what so ever. You apply Betadine oitment on the end of the penis to keep infections etc away. His looks healthy and I cant wait for the plasitbell to fall off and see the end result.

I was using disposables when the boys were done... and there was no irritation... BUT I really don't want to have to buy a whole pack of disgustables... and I really don't like the thought of those chemicals that close to Gabby... (AMAZING how much your opinions change once you start using cloth!!)

He poos like a trooper, so he's been in terry flats a lot lately... as I'm changing ever 40-60 mins anyway. (or whenever he's wet/pooey)

Good idea about the silk liners! :yes: I'll use a fold which gives more room in the front, like a looser Jo fold, or a Kite fold.
