I have an 11 month old son who weighs only 8kg with clothes on. Everybody comments on how small he looks. He was 3.195kg born and gained weight fast for the first 6 months following the growth curve chart well. He was 7.4kg at 6 months then he got sick with a bad flu (vomiting, diarhea, not eating) and dropped to 6.8kg. Since then he has only gained 1.2kg. I put him onto formula last month as i thought maybe this might help and he has 3 solid feeds a day with meats, cheese, pasta, etc to help put on the weight. He is extremely active and developing well so every doctor says not to worry about it. Does anyone else have a small bub? Should i worry and see a specialist?

As long as your bubby is eating well, has regular wet and soiled nappies, is active and growing - dont worry !!!!!!
Each baby is different and develops at different rates. Comparing your bubs to everyone elses only makes you worry.....
Hey there, all kids grow diferently so there is a large range of normal as you know, Has he started crawling in the past few months if so maybe he is useing up more engery or something like that, If youare concerned perhaps try and get an appointment with the dietician at your childrens hospital they may be able to give you some ideas,
This may make you feel a bit better about your chjilds size my 19 month old is 7 kilos and 72 cm,

My 14 mth old weighs 9 kg but she is happy and healthy and really that is what is most important.
My 19 month old is just on 10kg.
It sounds like your little guy is eating really well and your doctor is happy with his weight gain, so I wouldn't worry if I were you.

You know that really isnt that small. I have a 20 month old who would be lucky to weigh 9 kilos, now that is small. You have to remember that we have an average in weight because there is an equal number of babies who fall each side of average. There wouldn't be an average without smaller bubs like yours, or without bigger bubs either. Just enjoy your baby, and try not to compare, I really do think that 8 kilos for 11 months is fine, and 'normal'
