Jedd has just accepted a modelling contract for a co that models for Huggies.

IF Jedd is offered a shoot for Huggies I'm in 2-minds about accepting it. On one hand, they are not bio-degradable and go against all my husband and I believe in; but on the other hand, the shoot would pay HEAPS which would go straight into Jedds education fund. Plus people are going to buy sposies, regardless of advertising or not...

What would you do?? :detective:

Honestly.... yep i would....

because.... huggies is a big company... if Jedd is seen on there he would probably get lots of other work... IYKWIM?

Congratulations!

I would to as it will lead to something as QTB said it gets him out there and then you can hopefully have a choice who he models for

I'd do it. :)

Other work would come in because of it, and like you said, EDUCATION FUND! :yelclap:

I would! It could be for the babywash or something else anyway.

Congrats, he must be one cute kid!

I do understand where you are coming from and it is entirely your decision.
Me personally? I couldn't so it. I have fought too hard for too long to stand by my principles on environmental issues and this would represent everything I don't do. My conscience is more important to me than dollars in my pocket.

personally, i wouldn't do a huggies ad, i just couldnt do it - promote something i believe is wrong.

BUT i can totally see where you're coming from re the education fund... its a hard one! i have no idea how much a photo shoot pays?

your bub must be a total cutie :)

I can completely see why you would be in two minds about it PL, but I have to agree with Sal here sorry :o

My views and principles are much more important than money. Sure the money would be nice to put towards an education fund but that would mean going against everything I stand for. I'm teaching my children to be environmentally aware and even if it was a photo shoot for Huggies bodywash, powder or something else I would feel that I'm being somewhat hypercritical, but that's just me.

Knowing how much you care for the environment Ally, I don't envy you having to make this decision. Just know what ever you decide it'll be the right decision for you! :)

I couldn't let my child do it.

Im afraid im with Sal on this one in regards to it going against my principles but thats just me & you need to look at the bigger picture for yourselves.

I dont envy your position thats for sure :hugs:

No I definitely wouldn't do it.

First I thought I felt that way because I'm not really a fan of baby or child modelling, but then I thought that if someone asked me to have bub put in a Big W catalogue or something for clothes, I'd probably do it.

But no I could never do the Huggies thing, it would just go against everything I believe in.

no way...I'd feel like the biggest hypocrit. Money isn't everything.
It wouldn't be a hard decision to make for me...

I'm pretty sure I wouldn't do it, but if I did, I'd use the money from it to promote Cloth lol!!!

i would not worry about it untill it happens TBH.

most agents deal with huggies and many other big companies, they will advertise they model for huggies becuase it is a known name (like bonds, bambini mag, Coca Cola, McDonalds, etc).

congrats and good luck

No way I would never accept the job
Goes against everything I believe in and would be very hypocritical.

No way would I sell my soul for money. ;)

I'm sure if J is cute enough to be accepted for a huggies commercial he'll be cute enough for other more environmentally friendly companies.

I"d do the shoot .. snigger when you saw the ad (if you didn't take the money - someone else would) knowing that you will never EVER buy their product ..

heck - if they paid in sposies .. I would throw the lot on ebay and buy cloth with the money

i agree 110% with whats said here

i cant stand spoise i think they are disgusting! :barf:
i couldnt get Rylan to promote something that i think is just plain wrong. And destructive to our environment. i'd also feel like a huge hypocrite promoting them and getting more people to buy them when i know how bad they are. and all the water they waste Etc.

i just couldnt do it

I really don't know.
The poor, living with the in-laws side of me says take the money. But the MCNing, environmentally protecting, save the planet for our children side of me says no. It would be a VERY tough call to make in our house.

Thats a tough call but if jedd doesnt do it, wont another baby do it anyway.

Personally I'd have no problem in doing it. But I don't think that disposables are wrong - merely another parenting choice that isn't for me. I try & do my bit where I can - but at the end of the day I know I use the car, the computer a fridge etc and other things that are not that great for the environment, no-one is perfect. So for me I would feel hypocritical for being so anit-one thing when there are other things i do that are probably just as bad (if not worse) than disposable nappies.

You need to do what is best for you & your family - if the guilt will get to you - then don't do it. But really, it's going to happen anyway - you not putting Jedd in the add won't stop it from happening. Education on cloth/biodegradable disposables etc is a better way to get the message out without, disadvantaging yourself. Good luck with the decision.

 personally I dont think I would do it, it does go against my decisions. AND Huggies are ****!! Befoe I was "enlightened" we used Huggies and they leaked all the time, didnt contain anything.
I would still be having a long hard think, but I really dont think I would be able to do it, I have worked hard to have my DS disposable free for 8 months now.

Exactly what she said.
no one is perfect-our fridges are running, we have TV's, computers and we drive our cars, and not many of us live in mud brick homes, nor are many of us completely self sufficient. We use electricity, water blah blah blah.

Sure, we can lessen our impact on the environment by doing alot of things different but the fact remains, no matter what we do we will still be some kind of environmental strain.

If it were me? I would do it- but then i dont see sposies as 'disgusting'- i just see it as a product that is available that i choose not to buy.

Oh, wow, this is a difficult one. I hate sposies and the main reason we went full-time cloth was environmental. However, I know I'm a hypercrite and there's a lot more I could do. Part of me would love to say "no. I would never allow my child to endorse such a product", but really, faced with the choice, if I'm absolutely honest I bet I would say yes. If you only allowed your child to endorse environmentally sound, truly ethical products he wouldn't get that much work I suspect.
