Just curious.. DD is 4 months, and can lie on her mat and play with her toys (whilst i'm doing other things) for no longer than about 10 minutes, before she starts grizzling and wanting to be picked up. This is given that she is not tired and not hungry... This doesn't really seem like a long time to me... hmmmm,

I know all babies are different, but how long can your 4/5 month old amuse themselves for before starting to cry and wanting attention?

my bubs is 3 months and lasts ages now - but depends on the day....sometimes he wants my attention more than others....

but he's just started really liking the television!! I just stick him in front of it in his bouncer when he's bored with his mobile, keeps him occupied for ages, and he talks and laughs at it. he loves the simpsons, i think it's all the bright colours

My 5 month old is like your little girl hun, he will only last 10 or so minutes and back to mummy drives me nuts!! Have you got a sling? If you feel like you can't get anything done just put her in that it works wonders!

Yes! It drives me a bit nuts too!! LOL.. I have a Bjorn, and use it all the time. It's great, but my back is really starting to feel the strain!!

Does she like sitting up? If she does maybe you could get here one of those bumbo or bebe pod seats... You can just put them in it and they just sit there and maybe give her some links to play with or something... Kaid loves his bebe pod but still it doesn't last too long although he does last longer then on the playmat,rocker,highchair...

Whatever happens don't blame her wanting to be with her mummy on yourself because your always coming to her, she must just be a mummies girl! I know my little man is a MEGA mummies boy and I guess I just have to embrace it because one day when he is a teen I will be begging him for hugs lol!

Yeah great suggestion... my dd was pretty much the same at that age and she definently prefered to be sitting, so maybe worth a try??

It will get easier though

Hi Katiemummy2b! My 5 month is like the others said...very clingy...he is going for longer during floor/playmat time...but max 10-15 min...he really enjoys his bumbo...and loves his highchair...I wouldn't worry too much...just try and encourage her without mummy time little by little...Best of Luck!

I guess I am lucky? I can leave bubs for however long.. I think the most I have done it for is 30 mins, I can't bear leaving her for longer, I just feel guilty - But I am sure she could go for longer if I let her.

I am REALLY spoilt with DS - he will play for ages some days. The other day i was cleaning up in the kitchen & making some biccies, and it was about an hour he was playing for. He is 6months though, and has mastered the art of rolling both ways, so he never stays in the one spot.

A few months ago - he would playfor quite a while still....although it probably was cheating 'cause DD constantly jumps on him to keep him entertained, and if she heard him crying while she was in the other room she'd come running in 'i got him, i got him' and shake a toy infront of him or something. :D

I have heard that the baby bjorns kill your back - i have an ergo, and although it's $$$ it's well worth it. I have him in it while at the park, so i can still chase DD about, and i've never had a sore back from it. Plus it's great for flexibility as i can carry almost 15kg DD on my back in it no probs too.

ETA: DD i couldn't leave her sight when she was a bubba - so if anyone is thinking it's something they've done - it's probably not. I treated them both the same - they are just very different in themselves.

Eb doesn't cry or anything to be picked up, she is really placid and will self entertain herself for 2-3 hours until she get's hungry or tired.

buy a jolly jumper!!

Got one last weekend! What a wonderful invention!! She loves it, although, won't last longer than about 15 minutes, and is more interested in sucking on the strap than jumping..
