Hi
Is anyone else getting really bad leg cramps in the middle of the night? I keep getting woken up by them - they hurt so much and all I can do is yell for my husband to wake up and rub my leg (he is soooo lucky!!) Last night it happened 3 times and now today my leg is aching really badly.
Does anyone have any ideas of things to stop this happening??

Ouch!!! They are the worst....I found I would get them as soon as I stretched at night, or curled my toes.....eat more bananas.

you can also wear the support stocking for post surgery. they help to stop cramps and they also reduce the risks of clots forming too.

Oh boy! I remember that! I got leg cramps every night too, and pins and needles as well......by the end of my pregnancy I used to wake up just as the cramp was coming on and I would stretch my leg as much as I could and that seemed to stop it from cramping. Never heard the bananas remedy though - must try that next time

Sounds like you need some magnesium in your body:yes: - cramps are the worst!!:hair:
You can buy powdered magnesium at the health food stores and just mix it up with your juice and MAJIC! Also keep taking it right after you give birth as they take away all those horrid afterbirth pains without need for drugs:thumbsup:

I got them constantly when I was pregnant with my children. I'd yell and cry out to DH to pull my toes back (since I couldn't reach) to stop the cramp.
It's caused by stress on the leg muscles because of the extra weight, changes in blood circulation an pressure from the growing baby on the nerves and blood vessels that go to your legs.
Things you can do..
Avoid standing or sitting in a position that may restrict blood flow ie sitting with your legs crossed.
Stretch your legs especially the calve muscles before going to bed.
Drink plenty of fluids and avoid getting dehydrated during the day.
Go for a daily walk.

Oh they are THE WORST!!! I used to get them all the time with my other pregnancies, so bad at times that I would ball my eyes out.
You have to get up really quickly if you can feel that one is about to happen and stand up and move around, I find that helps.
Also I found curling my toes at night brought them on- don't know why but after I would curl my toes I'd get a cramp :o
Milk got rid of mine within 48hrs when I was pg with DS (about 2-3 glasses a day). I never got another one. This time round I started earlier and haven't had a leg cramp yet.
And yep, magnesium supplements can definitely do the trick too!

Don't those leg cramps suck! Mine were weird and if standing in the same spot for too long, my leg would give out from under me. Apparently, it's from the extra weight on your hips. I also drank a glass of milk every day and it seemed to get rid of mine so start guzzling
If i could be in labour in my leg, i would have thought i was last night OMG i had the worst one i have ever had, i couldn't even stretch my leg out to stop it, it wouldn't bend, i grabbed dh's arm puffing and groaning in pain it was horrendous :gloomy: now today my leg is sore.

They are the worst!!!
I am getting them at the moment and I am NOT pregnant - body just thinks it is cos of the implanon!
I also heard it had something to do with a salt deficency??? Possibly an old wives tale!
