Girls

We're TTC #3. We are only on month 3, and as my doctor said that's nothing in the scheme of things, but I'm nearly 36 and am a little worried that it may not happen because of my getting older (my first 2 are only 1 and 2.5). All the literature says that once you hit 35 your fertility goes down big time, but I wonder has really decreased that much as opposed to 2 years ago when we decided to go for #2.

Have any of you experienced secondary infertility (when you cannot conceive after already having had a child or pregnancy) or know of someone who did? What age were you? Did you eventually have a happy outcome?

I know I'm probably worrying unnecessarily, but although I have 2 absolutely beautiful children I just somehow am not ready to give up having more babies yet.

Hi - Iwas 36 when I concieved my baby number 2 - it took almost a year of trying and in the end I had acupuncture which worked straight away. I know how worried you get - everyone tells you you'll be fine but there is this niggling worry in the back of your mind. I have several friends over 35 and we have all taken longer to concieve then we hopped - but now we have our new babies or like me are due soon - so hang in there!!!

Ruth - your fertililty doesn't suddenly drop at 35yrs! It's a gradual thing over time - the media have us thinking that something mysterious happens the day your turn 35......LOL.......simply NOT true :p
I think you are worrying unnecessarily and getting stressed over wanting to fall pg and this is probalby more likely to be causing you to not get pregnant then your age.
I'm now 38yrs and had severe endometriosis to boot and just had my first bub - am planning a second one now....I'm not overly worried.... I know PLENTY of women friends who've all had more then one baby after 35yrs..........3 months trying is not long and would not be considered an issue even for a 25 yr old - so just chill-out and enjoy the "making" part of babies :D
