AFL - New coach at Essendon

I can't believe that the new Essendon coach got rid of Mark Johnson! He is one of my favourite players...hard as! Apparently another 4 players have not had their contracts renewed, but I only know that Kepler Bradly is one of them.

It's going to be an interesting season for the Bombers, with Matthew Knights coming on board. I don't know if I am really happy about that...as it felt like Sheedy was let go for no reason - as they didn't have anyone else specifically in mind.

Oh well, I suppose fresh blood might be just what the red & black need?

By the sound of it, a lot of people can't believe that the coach actually got the job!

The best thing that will have happened to Essendon will be Gary Ayres going!

He's my favourite. Like Dennis Cometti once said about him, "He could pick a fight in an empty room" :laughing: I love his tenacity.
I don't know about Matthew Knights, I'm still pretty bitter about Sheeds getting the boot - I'm 34 and he's the only coach I've ever 'known'...I really didn't see it coming and didn't think that Knights was going to get the job!
It will take me a while to warm to him.

I too have only known Sheeds. But I have half been expecting it for a while....although it was still a shock.
I don't expect that Bombers will climb the ladder quickly with Knights, however he wants to get into the top 8 within the next 2 years....

I know - I too loved Johnno (pocket rocket!).....he was tough as...i used to love watching him and Soleman play - they both knew how to tackle.
