We really love hand made stuff.. knowing that someone has gone to the trouble to make it means so much more... however if you are not the crafty type, we'll appreciate anything we receive.

I've combined everyone's posts so far to make it easier. Hope I haven't missed anyone.

Juzz I am happy with something handmade or bought. Cassidy will play with pretty much anything but she does like toys that make noise or can move. Wooden toys are good. Board books are great. Soft toys will get drooled on and probably wrecked. So something hard wearing is good. Doesnt need to be a toy. Cassidy will hopefully be in a 0-1 by summer in tops. I like slogan tops. Sharon board books are alway great. also lily would like some toys that are traditionally for boys such as car/truck/trains. we dont have any wiggles or hifi dvds either so that would be good as i think she will be into that next year. her size is 0 but might be boardering on a 1 by xmas.

Hannah

Lauren ~ I love handmade. Especially toys. Wooden toys are good. Jack loves board books and things that make noise like rattles. He would be size 1 by Christmas and it's no secret I love slogan tops. Favourite colours are red, black, navy or anything bright :)

Joanne

Sandy - Coen likes pretty much everything by way of toys, handmade or bought - what ever you have time for. He will also likely be a 1 by Christmas - all colours welcome (except blue -- l am sick of the sight of blue) - No soft toys (ppppppppplease) - we have boxes of them. He has plenty of books for us to read to him but board we could always do with more board books... for him to.... read... chew...

Marianne - something that will make her move!!!! She will prob be about a 0-1. Eats like a horse so maybe 2's...ha. Needs a special toy of her own. Loves being outside and she mentioned that she likes money, diamonds and a big fat holiday for Mum & Dad.

Renee

Kim ~ Riley isnt fussy with toys but he loves the noisy ones and the ones that have nice bright faces and lights, he is a size 00 waist but wearing a 0 for long pants for the length and 1's on top for length, (gee my boy is all over the place lol) his foot is a size 4!

Hels - No clothes, soft toys or toys that don't do anything please. We like educational toys & games eg puzzles and things that have to be built or put together, and interactive books - he needs more of those.

Something girly is ok too! LOL

Sharon (shajake)

Kylie (matts mum) - matt likes cars or anything he can push around. Or something to put on his shelf in his room. He is a size 0 and wears blues and reds mostly. A funny slogan tshirt would be great to.

Tegan (Butterflymumma) - Lilly loves any type of toy, she will play with anything. She is crazy for books- something that makes a noise or she can touch is even better. We are overloaded with clothing for her, so dont need anything clothing wise. Anything handmade or brought is fine, its realy up to you, its the thought that counts

Kay~ I'd love something hand made I like unique little nicknacks or something special to be kept on the top shelf for special looks- so it needent be a toy. Eli would love a cardboard book or car. he likes anything that moves or makes a noise! H'es a size 0-1 but would probably be a 1 over summer.

I've already done this but it seems my Secret Santa ideas have gone! So here tis again.

Joanne ~ Liam will be in size 1 by Christmas or just after I imagine, so any cute t'shirts or shorts. Also, noisy toys he can bang and crash......cars, anything boyish really. We don't need anymore stuffed/soft toys. Cot sheets and plastic bowls for his solids are another idea.

I can't wait to find out who my secret santa person is... I've got lots of ideas but want to make sure they suit the person and bub before I go ahead.

Are we going to make it totally anonymous or do we all reveal who gave what to who afterwards? Just wondering if I should wrap the gift in paper that has 'FROM SUPERFROG!!!' printed all over it, or go with something more subtle.

It's all done!!

Everyone has a match!!

Im just waiting for tan to get home from work then we will send them off at the same time.

PLEASE keep it a secret from fellow Feb mummas!

i think its better to wish your bubba a happy christmas without your name attached. >?? what does everyone else think?

someone suggested that we have a live chat unwrapping night - itd be nice to keep it for that and see who everyone guesses is their secret santa.

Secret santa list of ideas

Just a small glitch on the anonymity aspect. Today I sent a package (the nappy to M) and they made me complete a security sticker that included my name and full address to put on the package.

Any ideas how to get around that?

How did you send it? Was it express or registered or anything? Everytime i have sent one, i used the prepaid satchel bags, i have never had to fill out the security thing. Just had to sign the declaration on the bag that it wasnt dangerous goods.

icugal
18-10-2007, 08:54 PM
It was just a normal big package envelope... big enough to fit a GK nappy in it. I even put everything in the envelope in front of the chick at the post office.

juzzy
18-10-2007, 09:01 PM
Well my suggestion would be, when posting for SS, use a prepaid bag as they dont ask you to do that stuff. You just have to sign the bag.... any scribble will do

bAaM
18-10-2007, 09:03 PM
I think we should send all the prezzies via registered post. It only cost about $2 more and it will guarantee them be delivered, its a busy time of year and i would hate for someone to miss out cause it got lost in the mail.

marianne- i gave tan 8 names. i have no idea whos shes matched those 8 names to apart from the one im buying for.

i had the rest and tan has no idea at all whos got who from my list, only the baby she is buying for.

so it will be fun for both of us to guess some at the end.

ETA- tan means we know who our groups are matched with. we dont know who each others groups are matched with tho!

gawd does that make any sense to anyone?

Something girly is ok too! LOL

mandi ~ Lochlain likes any type of noisy toys or ones that move. Loves anything he can touch so toys that have different feels to them, books are good. he will most probably be a 1 or close to it by christmas so any kind of clothes are good.

Sharon (shajake) - Ben and Matthew have heaps of clothes, so no clothes please. What they really like is those toys that make lots of sounds. I seem to only have soft toys but none that make sounds.

I thought it might be a good idea to add the details for secret santa in one post for everyone to refresh their memories.

Its $15 + postage (which is to be anonymous - with Kay's details in case of problems).

Are we going to need surnames for our intended receiver and for Kay?

PM - said post on Monday November 31st - but given their is no such date - can l assume its Friday November 30th?

Kay, any up-date on whether I will be receiving the address soon for my SS baby?
I know the baby's name, but I don't know who he or she is :(
I really don't want to go and buy a pressie if it's not going to happen, IYKWIM

Otherwise, give me another one and some lucky baby can have two pressies :D

It was just another misunderstanding. Kay thought she had given me all the details, but I had only got the baby's name and not the mother's username. It's all sorted now and Kay will send me the address in due course. I was just getting anxious as I thought I had been overlooked :)

THANK YOU SECRET SANTA!! ELOISE LOVES HER PRESSIES

She got a gorgeous Disney book and a big Winnie the Pooh teddy. Pooh was flat packed when he arrived and looked like he had been in a nasty road accident! You should have seen Eloise's face when he came out of the parcel and got 'plumped' up. She kept saying 'oooh' and 'aaah'. So, thank you again, great presents and they went down very well. I think I might know who you are too ;)

Here (http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u126/purplebird_2007/STP61218.jpg) are the pressies. Full size Pooh! (http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u126/purplebird_2007/STP61220.jpg). And he has ears too (http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u126/purplebird_2007/STP61222.jpg)...

I like the idea of taking photo and posting it for everyone to see... l would like to let Coen open the present for himself - like l did at my mothers group secret santa (see below for Mother's group pressie pics)

see intact present (http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s49/harleyq_album/IMG_2922.jpg)
the paper is far more interesting (http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s49/harleyq_album/IMG_2925.jpg)
oh here we go (http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s49/harleyq_album/IMG_2926.jpg)
now we play (whilst mummy recovers from having blown up the bl00dy thing) -- which he loves by the way (http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s49/harleyq_album/IMG_2937.jpg)

I am happy to wait for everyone to get their present (everyone waited for me) - or to go with the majority...

As for opening them at live chat... I won't be able to make most of it (cooking dinner for MIL's birthday - unless l can make her leave early ... food poisoning anyone???) - but l will try and check in...

Just to throw an idea out there... is there any chance of doing the opening & a quick live chat some time during the day on Thursday??? and then perhaps another one that night at the usual time...

juzzy
18-12-2007, 02:00 PM
Well ok then, i am going to take the bull by the horns here and say that we just open them when we see fit and take pics for all to see. As far as i am aware the majority of the regular posters have their presents. This week is mayhem for the majority so i think it works better that way. I know i wont be able to make chat on Thursday night so i am happy to do it this way.

Rather than create a new thread, lets just continue on with this one.

If there are no objections i will take photos soon.

Ok, this (http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i60/Hels-b/Baby/Caterpilla.jpg) is Reece with the pressie that arrived at my house from "Santa".
There is another pressie that is at Penny's house which I think it the real SS pressie.
But I'm posting a pic of this one just incase.
As you can see he really loves it, thank you.

i dont think its a grand idea.

this is our group secret santa. we were going to open as a group, i couldnt help the delay in some posting. it cant be helped that we all cant get together for the live chat.

as someone suggested and i think is the next best to that, is posting a pic on here and then the live chat to 'guess who'.

If the melbs are going to do a grand opening all of their own excluding half the group while theyre at it and their own 'guess who' chat that will follow, then the 'non melbs' may aswell have their own live chat.

its the grand old divide in the group again.

Right looks like old wounds are coming up again which as far as i know was never the intention.

To avoid conflict if i get home in time (im at the ILs at the moment) i will do it tonight.

I think we were planning to take photos of our own babies as they opened there presents and i dont think there was any need to bring up that issue again.

As i said it was never the intention to apparently divide the group. And this is why i no longer use BH very much.

It's all good Kay...

Kaelan opened his present tonight (I didn't even realise that there was talk of a SS opening at the meet tomorrow).

The only person who may (or may not) open their present tomorrow is Reece... and that is only because he has to wait for me to get it to him... which will most likely be at the meet (assuming I'm not too sick).

I'll post some photos soon of K's presents later :)

Rightio then.

Lauren- Im so glad Jack liked his books!!!! I'm sorry for the noisy ones- but you probably already know- the louder the toy- the higher the entertainment factor- therefore giving you more time to not have to 'entertain' bubs. I hope this works for you LOL.

And the Tree Dec- i meant to have that engraved with his name but ran out of time, so sorry about that:hugs:

I have no idea who my SS was??????? BUT we got three great books-she loves them!!!! Has been dragging them around all afternoon!!!!!
Baylee went to have a look at one and Cody grunted, threw her arms out as if to say "oh, no you bl00dy well dont" and half dragged it away:laughing:.
I'll post pics tomorrow!!!

So who is chatting tomorrow night?
I know some have other comintments which is fine but if your not coming into chat tomorrow night- could you post in here who you bought for so at least the mum will know?
I'm in for the big reveal- even though mine already knows who i am but im desperate to know who mine is.

open them at your meet, its fine. why should i care. Ive had 3 trips to hospital, Christmas for my own family, birthdays and family visiting but was still trying to stay on top of this SS chasing missing gifts and emailing tan for help when i couldnt be infront of the comp.

I am sure it wasnt the intention of who ever suggested it. but I think that will be the outcome of the suggestion and thats what i was trying to get across

but I never said that i thought that was intention of the suggestion.

If thats what you all think then sorry that you read it like that.

Kim- the melbs did their own SS at a meet last week. This one is our whole groups SS. That is why we were going to open them as a group.

Hels*Bels
19-12-2007, 08:32 PM
We will be opening Reece's other pressie tomorrow (if Penny is feeling well enough to attend the meet).
Otherwise it will be opened when we next see Penny.
Either way, I'd like to say a big big thank you to the person who sent it :)

And regarding the pressie that came directly to my house, it could either be a "replacement present" from another SS mum or a family member. OR even santa himself! ;)
And I've already posted the photo just incase it was from someone in here. I guess all will be revealed in the chat tomorrow night.

Not sure if I will make it into chat, we are going late night shopping tomorrow so it depends on what time we get home.

Let's try to keep things nice, does it really matter when and where anyone opens their pressie?

Let's try to keep things nice, does it really matter when and where anyone opens their pressie?

It would have been nice, yes, to all be able to open them together in Live Chat but as it's impossible to get everyone in there at the same time- here was the next best thing.
I can see Kay's point and i have to agree with her.....it seems a little 'us and them' for you all to get together to open them, when no one else is available to do it then (not like we can fly down there)- we were all a part of it and i think it should have been done as a group if it were possible.
Kay and I put alot of effort into it- matching up people, organising days to post and then finally chasing up who had received them and who had posted etc etc, we both have busy lives but made the time to do this special thing for everyone.
Its feels like a bit of a slap in the face for you to all get together to open your presents when we all cant be there too.
Does that make sense?
Im not trying to be smart or hurtful, but could you possibly put yourselves in our shoes and see it from our point here?
I guess we are disappointed is all.

I can understand where you guys are coming from... it is a group thing and not a Melbourne thing. That's fair enough.

From what I had understood (as was posted about 3 pages back), it had been decided that we would open the presents at home in our own time and then post feedback/photos in this thread. That's why I allowed K to open his present tonight. I didn't realise that we were still doing the chat thing on Thursday night... and I certainly wasn't aware of any plan to open presents at the Melb meet tomorrow (which I think I've already said).

I'll try to make the chat tomorrow... but there are no promises. I'm just feeling too chucky at the moment to concentrate.

Ok so its my fault. There was a suggestion in the melb meet thread that we perhaps open them tomorrow at the meet. There was no intention for it to bring up the us vs them debate again.

TBH this is just too much for me to deal with considering i have had a miscarriage in the last week. So if you guys want to start that argument up again go ahead.

All i am going to say is thank you to my SS in advance. I am going to bed now to rest and try and get some sleep.

I joined bubhub to get support from other mums and share experiences of being pregnant and having babies. I have made some unbelievable friends and ones I think will last for a long time. I didn't join to feel bad when I read posts

Everything that's happened in this thread lately has made me so so sad. I try really hard to include everyone as I genuinly care about everyone who posts here.

I probably wont make chat till late tommorrow night as I've already said. I opened their presents last night. I'm sorry I should have let them open it.

Matthew - Thanks SS I'm sure he'll love it. The T shirt said "I came, I saw, I destroyed" I will put him in it and take a photo. I'll try tommorrow, but it will probably be Friday. It's very appropriate. The quiet achiever we call him.

Ben - Will love his book. Thank you SS.

Kay and Tan are right, perhaps the pressies should be opened individually and posted on here. It was a group thing and as we can't all be together to open them, then we should open and then post.

How about if we all open them between now and tommorrow night after chat finishes and then post on here on Friday who our SS baby was? What do we all think?

Hey gals...
Well l will fess up... the sh!t storm is my fault... l'm truly sorry l didn't mean to hurt anyone...
I originally suggested for those who were unlikely to make it to the chat (me included) perhaps they could take a photo... l also suggested that for any mums meeting up tomorrow (Melb) if they would like to bring their pressies with them - we could open them together - the intention was that we could get photo's to post here (for chat that evening) - it didn't even occur to me that it might hurt any bodies feelings (l can be thick sometimes) - it wasn't supposed to replace the chat...

Anyway - it was all done innocently - and l can see how Kay & Tanya (in particular) could feel slighted by it - can we leave it at that - l just didn't think it through...

I will still try and come to chat (if l get invited in :o) and my inlaws leave ... I can't wait to tell the person l had that l had her bub... its killing me - but l will keep it a secret till tomorrow night (if l don't make chat I'll post who l had Friday morn) ...

Good night everyone

Ok wow, this place has really gone off in the past day or so.

TBH i have brely been here and if it wasn't for TAN'S help a aweek or so my SS would be still sleeping next to the letter box.

After reading all the posts so much was going through my head. A few stuck in my mind...

However in the past i have been burnt for speaking my mind.

However me being me i will say.

Thank you to TAN & KAY for what you have done.
To Lauren i admire your continual support for everyone who comes to this thread. Never have you expressed a divide.

To Sharon, i don't ever feel jealous, and neither should you of the Melb girls. I am the ONLY mad one living out in the desert with no face to face meetings with anyone here. I never joined in the event i would have a chance to meet people in real life. I wish i could now and one i day i plan to.

I always believed that a live chat in some form was going to be the way things were done. Lets stick with that. For those that miss it for whatever reason we will all catch up eventually.

Ok so all in all for those that don't want ot be here, don't for the rest of us that do let's just get on with it and enjoy it. Lifes to god dam short for the ****...

oh and SS...i'm still watching you...better have learnt to read that book by now!!
