View Full Version : Mashed potato variations??
I love mashed potato and i want to make it for tonights dinner but i don't feel like going plain  so just want to know what to put in with it to jazz it up a bit.
thanks :)
finely diced onion and grated cheese is always a hit in my house (well when DF isnt home coz he doesnt like cheese lol). You could also add diced bacon or ham.

You could try adding cheese and spring onion and then stick it in the oven so it gets a bit crispy on top, but is still mashed iykwim.

I also add finely diced cooked bacon, mushrooms, onion, garlic(all cooked with the bacon) and parmesan cheese (the real parmesan, not that powdered cheesy socks muck - LOL) Yummy.

we put some blue cheese into the mash. yumm
I know it's too late but this one is yummy...
Add some olive oil, (instead of butter), milk, salt and pepper, minced garlic, grated parmesan and a touch of nutmeg.
I can get the exact measurements for you if you like - but I usually just do it to taste and consistency. It's really yummy and has always been a big hit. My DS can't get enough of it when I make it!
you can boil the whole potatoes in their jackets and scoop out the center and mash that with sour cream cook up a bit of diced bacon and add some chopped spring onions then put it back into your potatoes and sprinkle some grated cheese on top and put them in the oven for 5mins til the cheese has melted, yummo always a hit at my house.
Some cream cheese with chives and beef stock powder mixed in and a little milk if you need it. Heaven.
