So I was reading DD a Beatrix Potter story tonight before bed... the Tale of Jemima Puddle-Duck.

It was incredible the way it made me think of freebirth...(yes, I know this is a bit of a silly thread...:p ).

As the story goes, Jemima Puddle-Duck is annoyed because the farmers wife keeps taking her eggs away. It's inferred they're being hatched elsewhere (I suppose they could be eaten, but I didn't get that feeling).

ANYWAY, her SIL, Mrs Rebecca Puddle-Duck loves not having to sit on her eggs for 28 days. She thinks it's a waste of time... and also thinks Jemima wouldn't be able to do it. (She sounded "too posh to push":p ).

So off Jemima goes... to have her babies in the forest.

There's much more to the story (Jemima entrusts her eggs to a fox, who's dressed up handsomely... he made me think of an OB who tells you what you want to hear, then screws you over last minute...lol), but the first park just made me think of free-birth.

THUMBS UP Jemima Puddleduck.

In the end, she didn't get her freebirth (some dogs ate her eggs), but she went on to have a HOMEBIRTH back at the farm...:D

(Thanks for reading my ridiculously embarrassingly stupid thread).

LoL do you think that there is possibily some kind of hidden message in the story? ;)

You are so cute.

Have you ever thought of doing journalism? I have been thinking this for a while. I love the way you write and I think you would do very well.

Ta for not telling me I'm a crazy lunatic...:p

Shed, I DID think about it in school, but here we rely on a system called "OP" which stands for "Overall Position" to get into Uni. It's from 1-24, 1 being the best. You needed a 4 to get into Journalism and I got an 8.

Doesn't matter that I was in top 3 of 200+ students for English...

(Got knocked up anyway though so no real chance there...).

My Dad keeps putting pressure on me to do some sort of writing thing... so does my mother... so do friends. lol. It's always been my kind of "thing" but it's much harder to find anything worthy of writing about these days.

But thanks Shed - that made me feel really good. :D
