HI my little IVF miracle is 8 months old today! we are thinking of going through IVF again in April! i have a few questions, maybe someone can help me with:confused: How did you cope when it didn't work trying for another one? and did you feel you neglected the baby you did have when it didn't work?I'm so sorry if this doesn't make much sense and i hope someone will know what i mean:confused:

My babyemmy, i dont have an answer for you but that is a great question. I've been thinking the same thing, i hope someone has some advice!! Sometimes i worry that i wouldnt handle the stress and all thats involved whilst caring for a little one as well, it scares me sometimes. Especially if it took the same amount of time to conceive or longer. Hopefully theres some advice about this for us.

Hi girls
I'd love an answer to those questions too! I use another IVF board and there's a few girls who are TTC #2 at the moment. From their posts it seems it's hard to accept a negative, just like the first time around. They havent mentioned anything about neglecting their #1's though.

hi girls, i am interested also in your question... our little miracle is nearly 2 and as i am older i worry that things will take much longer and how i will cope with that, hence how that will impact on our darling... i also wonder whether we should just be happy with our miracle (which i am so much but i worry that she will alone when we are gone....) so i would like to have another for her sake not mine. I also worry that it has been such a hard slog, whether i could cope all over again! I am also scared that if we do succeed, how do you treat them both the same? How can you love them both the same, etc (i just cant understand how the love i feel for April can be shared with another) not sure if any of this is making any sense...
Oh i would be very interested in the other ivf site to see what things other ivf parents have to say about things....

we had our DS via IVF when I was 41 and my DH was 45. We were so blessed as it worked the first attempt. I've been too scared to try again in case it doesn't work the first time again. So at the moment we are just hoping God will send another miracle our way and we are successful naturally but the rate that's going "nothing doing" as we are both so tired when we do have "our time" together that sex seems to be a thing of the past these days so it really would have to be a miracle this time round (LOL).
I never wanted an only child but it looks like that's the way it's going to be. Don't get me wrong we are just sooo grateful that we have our DS but all my friends have just had their 2nd or are currently pregnant with their 2nd and I just feel so much sadness for my DS. We are very lucky though as he has a very outgoing personality so I hope that that will make up for it and he makes plenty of friends when he goes to school.

Hi BabyEmmy,
I'm waiting for AF to start another round of FET treatments by FSH injections and Trigger. I'm hoping that my 2 FE are still of ok quality since DD was about +4 transfer. I'm quietly confident but extremley scared that it is going to hit me harder due to knowing what I am missing out on. As from my sig you can see I have fallen pregnant with the help of IVF ICSI 3 times but that was out of 19 cycles.Guee I have forgotten all the protocols. My fert specialist is pretty easy on me, so I hope it is stress free. It is arranging childcare for DD 1yr old whilst I do this...I use to think waiting for transfer and waiting watching others children how much it upset me yet gave me some hope it works. If only I could get a T-Shirt for her that says Made by scientists and very longed for..mum and dad never gave up
Good luck for your upcoming cycle

Was just wondering, does ivf have a higher chance of working if you have done that before?
Im just starting ICSI, but was wondering if it worked better if you had been successful with it previously?

I think that everyone is different.... so that's difficult to say whether it works first shot or not. I think it might depend on why you are going thru IVF in the first place... (medical condition, etc...)
We are doing ICSI as my hubby had a vasectomy....
I know people who have been on IVF for 10 years and others that fell preggy on the 2nd go.... it's so hard to generalise.
Which clinic are you going to?

Hi IVFMUMMY, im going through Flinders Reproductive Unit, they are in Adelaide.
We are using this method because my husband had a vasectomy, then a reversal and it hasnt worked properly.

What hasn't worked properly? The reversal or the ICSI?
We are going thru ICSI and DH is not looking forward to the procedure to extract the sperm LOL

Hi, we are facing the very real possibility of never having children as my husband is severly infertile. At the age of 38 after waiting for "Mr Right" for all these years, this is very hard to take. We are having our one and only IVF/ICSI cycle in August and have to deal with the fact that the odds are stacked against us. I know everyone is different, but when you look at it like that, one happy , healthy child would be the biggest, most fantastic miracle we could ever hope for. One approch would be to just be enormously thankful for what you have and quit while you are ahead. Just knowing the stress we have gone through over the past 5 months - I cant imagine doing that with an 8 month baby. Sorry, but that;s just my opinion. Good luck whatever you choose to do!

Hi Julia, wishing you the best of luck with your treatment!!!:hugs:
But like mybabyemmy said, please do not judge, some of us have gone through great difficulty to get pregnant too. I might be 10 years younger than you but it has taken me and my husband 5 years to get pregnant, 6 IVF cycles of ICSI and about $8000 later we got pregnant. We love our son more than words can say and we are very grateful for him more than I can ever say!
This is a hard time for you and we are all here for you. You will find so much support here so please hang around and let us know how you are going. Take care xoxoxox:hugs:

Hi ladies, i too sometimes wonder if we will get pregnant again. Hopefully i will get the all clear from our doctor to go again at the end of the year. We were very luck with our ICIS and fell the first time round. I love my daughter so much i would do anything for her and if that means we have to go through some hard times to give her a brother or a sister then we are prepared for that. If it doesnt work straight away i would probably focus more on our little moo, as it just really lets us know how special she is. :yelclap: :smiliedance:
Why do some people only think that they are the only ones going through hard time to have a baby? :( We all have our stories and everyone is different. If we were all the same the world would be a boring place. So lets just try and support one another and be there if anyone needs a little help along the way.
One last thing GOOD LUCK and WARM WISHES FOR EVERYONE on their journey. :hugs:

GOOD LUCK to all going through cycles at the moment. We also have a 10 month IVF miracle. We had 2 embryos transferred, which resulted in bubs. I had the transfer in November 2004, so I dont know if laws have changes since then. But we went to see our specialist last Saturday to discuss a FET (hopefully mid-July) and he asked if we wanted one or 2 transferred, and we only wanted one. He agreed, partly due to my somewhat younger age (33 !) and also due to the fact that we were very lucky and have 8 frozen embryos.

Hi my babyemmy,
Do you mind if I join in? We had an FET the same day, my bt is on 7th June, lucky you I see yours is a couple of days earlier! I have a bed baby of 8.
I hear you on the people around, went to a lunch for Cuppa for Cancer and on my table two women were breastfeeding bubs of no more than two months, and another was seven months pg!!! It really made me ache inside. :gloomy:
Did you have any support medication :detective: ? I had absolutely nothing.... Are you feeling anything? I had a spotting episode on 4pt7po, but nothing else much aside from crampy.
Have a great Sunday!

Hi Everyone
Sorry it's been a while just a quick note to say it's a BFN for me as well. Really sorry about your result too babyemmy. Please stay in touch!
My FS is on holiday and we have no more on ice so I guess it is back to sniffing and stabbing when he gets back.
Shajake, I am keeping everything crossed for you - loads of positive thoughts coming your way :fingerscrossed:
Take care.

Gravel...I'm sorry to hear about your BFN...Did your AF come or did you do a HPT? I'm going mad...I'm dying to know but don't know if and when I should do a test...What do you think? :fingerscrossed: for a BFP for you next time. Thanks for keeping everything crossed, I'm starting to feel like I need it.

Hi Shajake
Got my AF but it was a really strange cycle, with no meds it is easier to monitor and I spotted and cramped from four days after transfer, I had nausea and tingling (.)(.), then AF came two days late. Can't wait to hear what my FS makes of that!
Myself I tested with the evil pee sticks from the day before AF was due, it was always -ve so expected the outcome.
They say it takes ten days for the last Pregnyl shot to leave your system, but if you do choose to go HPT be prepared for the outcome to be inconclusive. The drugs really do muck with our bodies so who can ever tell???
My advice would be to go with your heart, but hold out for your beta if you can!!!
Take care of yourself and I really am sending loads of positive feelings your way!!!

Hi Gravel...Thanks for that...I'm not one who usually takes a HPT test before due date but I'm so confused with the IVF process that I just know what to do...Because the grey area is when is AF due? Is it 14 days after EPU or what?
So what will you do while you wait to see FS?

Hi girls...
I have posted this on another thread but thought I would post it here as well.
Well I thought I would share something with you all. I couldn't help myself and I took a HPT this morning. I tried to eliminate all factors ie I'm 15 days post trigger, 11 days post transfer, so I thought what the heck I'll do one(the one I had, had to be done before due date), if AF is due 14 days after EPU then that's tomorrow, so I had to do it today.
Well between the 2 - 5 minute mark (they say to read it at the 5 minute mark, if testing before AF) there was a faint positive So I'm not jumping for joy just yet, but I thought I would share with you that I couldn't wait...So I'm not sure what to make of it.
Any ideas would be great.
So :fingerscrossed: for a confirmation on Thursday.
I look forward to chatting with you guys later.

Hi Shajake
Don't know if this is much help but, yes, they calculate EPU as your day of ovulation so if you have a 28 day cycle normally, then your AF should, in normal circumstances, be due 14 days ofter ovulation or EPU. You need to consider your own cycle length.
You poor thing, it's a dilemma isn't it? Just remember that the drugs in your system will play havoc with any results and try not to read too much into them.
Take care :fingerscrossed:

ShajakeWithout getting too carried away, it is sounding pretty good from where I am!!
We must have posted at the same time. Hang in there and perhaps take another test first thing tomorrow morning - first urine. If it is stronger than current line I would say you are looking good?????

Hi:wave:
We have 1 DD, 9 mnths, born to IVF, after 4 yrs trying. We are currently trying for our 2nd, again via IVF. While worrying I would be negeleting our DD, in came my MIL. She has been fantastic!! We decided not to tell anyone 1st time, but this time is so different.
I dont think I could have done it again without our families support and I regret not telling them the 1st time.
Don't give up on your dream of having more children. The long and stressful road is well worth the wait!!
Good luck to everyone

I am nervous about trying again - my little IVF boy is 6 months and we are going to try naturally again in September. If I am not pregrant by next year we may have to give IVF a try again.
I really want a another baby but I also feel really scared as it took us three years to fall pregnant and it was the hardest time in our life.
I think to myself - can I really go through that again. Am I being selfish and should I be happy with one??
Good luck to you all

Hello Babyemmy,
It's me again. I know you mentioned frozen cycles before but I have only just read this after I sent the last personal message a minute ago, sorry love.
WELL DONE!!!! That's fantastic news that your going again. Not only do I believe it's good to try when your baby is young because as you know that you can never tell how long it will take. You were lucky and hopefully just as lucky, I know it will work.
You can see the love and effection you give to little Emmy by your messages and I can just sence that you would never neglect her feelings. I know I have not met you but women do have those motherly feelings.
Who knows, we could be due the same time, fingers crosses :fingerscrossed:
I am assuming you have frozen eggs or do you have to start all over?
Please forgive my questions but I feel like I am going completely mad, in a funny kind of way.
On the weekend, I almost poured milk into the frypan instead of butter and today I phoned my friend and placed the upright cord down to the floor to talk at the other end......funny ha! AND I am not even preggers yet.
I guess I look at that as, well atleast my mind is on the silly things I do and not crying.....I know I will have some bad days but I just have to be optimistic but I am not afraid to let go when I need too!
Again, good luck and I will see when you want to catch up and have alonger chat in person....Can I meet Emmy too! She sounds gorgeous!
