My wife and i are in the process of tracking down an Obstetrician. I know that the hospitals have a list, but does any one have any extra info from personal experience or alternative sources.

Hi There

I had my gorgeous baby boy Ty at Ashford hospital. The obstetrician that I chose is based at Ashford in the specialist centre so is never too far away. I would have to say that when it came to me choosing an obstetrician I decided on the hospital first (which it sounds like you have) and then asked my doctor to recommend some people to me. In the end I chose Dr Andrew Day. He was fantastic and I think he might even deliver at Flinders. I also chose him as he had a special deal with my private Health insurance provider (although no longer happens).

Anyway, I would say ask your GP for some recommendations and then go from there. Anyway, I hope that this is of some help.

Skye :)

Thanks for the info. every liitle bit helps. My husband and I have decided to go Flinders Private as it is close to us. Visited to check out the facilities and the midwives were very helpful regarding finding a good ob. All a bit daunting first time round but I'm sure we will get there.

Thanks again

Palyingka, I had my first baby there and found everything to be exceptional! The midwives were great and facilities excellent. I certainly felt well looked after. I would be interested to know of other Obstetricians though - I had no dramas the first time around but am interested in perhaps seeing a different obstetrician this time. Can you let me know who was recommended to you, please. Thanks :)
