My DS seems to have terrible wind and even though I burp him and he usually does burp, he seems to fart alot and when he has a bowel motion, he has such a lot of wind. I wonder if it is normal or something I'm eating. I am only breastfeeding, but he did have the odd bit of formula before but I've cut it out.
I wonder if the wind is keeping him awake during the day as he doesn't sleep well during the day but sleeps well at night.

Sounds as if everything is going OK really! I used to be so shocked with the huge farts my newborn son would do. If you think he has gas you can try cutting out gassy foods from your own diet. Onions, cabbage, legumes, brocolli, anything you find gassy he probably will too. I cut all of these out for just a few weeks, oh, and spicy food too! Anyhoo, after a few weeks I phased some of it back in gently and it was all fine. But be happy if your bubba sleeps well at night!:yelclap: That is very important!

If I dont find it gassy, does it mean he wont either. I am married to a vegetarian Indian so I eat legumes, onions, and curry all the time. But I'm so used to it, it doesn't affect me. So will my son still be affected. I'd have to cook two meals.
It would be easier to ask my DH to change his gender than his eating habits:p

Oh lordy! That is bad luck! We used to eat so much curry etc. but now we just don't! I think that if you think DS is OK he probably is. My MiL used to ask me to cut back on spicy foods while pregnant and in those first BF months. I said that babies in India were breastfed and they were all OK, so mine would be too. She reckons that there is a modified diet for BF and preg. women that is less gassy for the breastmilk. The best person to ask might be your own MiL, or someone else from the culture who has been through it themselves.
Good luck!:D
