OKay, call me an idiot, but i am having great trouble finding a general bottle feeding guide on any website or baby book i have!! All i want to know is how often and how much approximately to fee dmy five week old son. I am expressing breastmilk into the bottle so i don't have a can of formula to check what the 'standards' are.
I have looked in about 6 different websites already and am getting very upset and frustrated (long night, no sleep, extremely sore right breast - wishing my Panadol was a Valium instead....you guys know the feeling)
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
I think the general rule ir 125 - 150ml per Kg per day.
If I was you I would feed your little one when you would usualy B/F and start with about 100ml and see how he goes. If he drinks it all offer more .
Good luck
hmmm the can is a guide... but my DS has always eaten WAAAY more than the can recommends anyway.... on the can I have it says that for a 1-2 month old... 150mls per feed 5-6 times a day...
I personally think that the formula guides should go by WEIGHT not age.... Jack was on 5 feeds of 200ml at that age...
dont forget - bubs will TELL you when DS is hungry! Jack is fed every four hours (he is like a little alarm clock!) - but friend's kids were mostly 3 hours till they got a little older..

Thanks guys, much appreciated. I am just having one of those days - my first ever crazy-upset day since Ashton was born!!
Darling husband has offered to stay home with me today and help out with Jack (3 yrs) so i can at least have a warm shower on my OWN for a change and hopefully relieve this severely sore breast. I can't believe how much it hurts, i never had breast pain like this before when i expressed for the other two kids.
My right breast is definitely fuller than the left one (which doesn't hurt) but i can't feel any lumps in it. Oh please let this incredible pain pass :crying:
