Yep, my dd was born in the bathroom in a pub on the way to hospital.
Let me introduce myself. My name is Tracy and I am mummy to my gorgeous dd Olivia who was a surprise when we conceived her and then decided to surprise us yet again with her speedy arrival. My labour went for just over 3 1/2 hours, here I was expecting at least 8 hours. Anyway, it was the most gorgeous, amazing, unreal experience I have gone through in my life. I wouldn't change a thing. My dh even got to deliver her himself, how stoked is he.
I live in Melbourne with my dh and my puppy, Zoe ( she is 6 actually). I used to post on Babycentre uk, but found that unless you were a regular, you didn't get many replies, I think I spoke ( well, you know what I mean) differently too and they picked up on that.
Anyway, looking forward to having a good chat, getting advice ( and I need loads of that) and having a good time.
Oh, can anyone tellme how I attach a photo?

Hi liv,
That is awesome!! What a story and might I add a great way to grab our attention!!
I hope you get many more replies here at bubhub - I am sure you will as we will pretty much post on anything ;)
To add a pic, you go to User Control Panel and the on the left there is a menu, choose edit avatar and then follow the steps to add a pic. It has to be less than 19.5kb or 80 x 80 pixels (whichever is smaller) - Good Luck!!
Welcome to Bubhub
What a fabulous story to be able to tell! I bet your husband was stoked.
I was raised in a pub, but that's only half my problem ;)
Hope you enjoy the forums.

Hi Kelly
Thanks for the reply. Judging by the photo of your dd's haircut, there is a story there also??
Things I have to look forward too.

Welcome to bubhub:D I think you will find that you get plenty of replies here!:smiliedance:
Hi and welcome:)
The title of your post definatly got my attention. What a cool story, I know my DH would love to have one like that to tell...I almost had DS in my dads kombi, if I had waited any longer to leave home I would have...
Looking foward to chatting with you more.
Just curious...how old is your bub?

A kombi hey. At least there was plently of room. My car was so small I don't think she would have come out if she tried.
My dd is 6 months this week.
Looking forward to chatting with you

well, the midwives told me to come in when my contractions were 3 minutes apart. We were very digilant in timing them, however at 5-6 minutes I couldn't wait any longer.
After driving ten minutes I asked dh to pull over on the side of the freeway because I needed to stretch my legs and walk around. As soon as I got out I had the urge to do a poo ( sorry) so told him to take me to a toilet. The closet one in sight was the Chelsea Heights Hotel, thank god they were open. I went straight to the toilet and Olivia came flying out about 3 mins later.
Talk about just making it in time.
I will be heading straight for the hospital at the first sign of labour next time I think.

wow! awesome story! definitely one for the 21st! ;)
a lady at work told me that she had a short labour, too - just under 4 hours! this scared me a little because i USED to think labours were all about this length (thanks to hollywood!), then i was corrected, but now i've heard 2 stories recently of short labours!
i'm just wondering, i heard that having a shorter labour makes it more painful because u haven't had all the contractions u'd usually have... do u think this was the case?

Hey there, thanks everyone for the warm welcome. I feel at home all ready.
Julie - I am actually in Frankston, so very close by. Maybe we could meet up one day??
Killakaz - Its a really interesting point about the pain associated with short labours. For starters, I think I have a high pain thershold, but secondly, I was under the belief that my labour was only in the early stages. I was anticipating the pain to get a lot worse, so I think I conditioned my mind to think this was nothing to what it was going to get like. Having said that, my intention was to have a water birth, all natural. On my way in, my words were " Stuff the water birth, give me an epidural", again thinking it was only going to get worse.
If I had to do it all again, I would go short labour for sure. The pain at the end of the day was quite bearable to what I have heard others go through.
I cant remember about your post. Are pregnant?

liviamorris - yes i am pregnant (25 weeks now :D) i plan on doing it natural, BUT i'll probably end up wanting pain relief! lol. i'm kind of hoping for a short labour - i'd rather the pain condensed than spread out over time! ;)
schmell - that's such a cute story! what is it with all kids wanting to cut hair?!! my older sister cut off all my curls when i was little! but i only ever cut my barbie doll's hair!
Hi - i'v discovered this great site! My partner and i are in the preconception stages - he and i both need so much help understanding everything.
I will say (and being new here i dont know a) if i can mention books or b) if it has already been posted) i found Sheila Kitzingers book 'Conception, pregnancy and birth' in Australia a great book, the only one i will need - i think.
Looking forward to using this site and gaining a lot of knowledge.
D
Sorry - just saw my first message may have gone onto this thread - dont know if i can be bothered removing it - sorry!
