I thought we could have a thread for little pearls of wisdom we have discovered through motherhood. It's always great to have other people expierience to draw on.

1. Always take spare clothes for u and baby they tend to explode.

2. Only buy the basics then buy the rest as u need it. I don't know how much stuff I brought and never used.

3. Don't be afraid to ask for help.

4. If ur past stressed it is fine to put bubba down and let them cry for five minutes while u walk away and compose urself. Mums who end up shakin their baby's are normal women who love their kids and are just to tired and stressed to think ahead.

5. Of all the things in ur hospital bag I would rate lipbalm and really good hair ties right up there. Ur lips will dry in every contraction and ur hair will fall out constantley if u don't.

OOh Bex, this is great.

6. Just because someone is a health care professional (dr, ECHN, midwife, whatever), it doesn't mean that they know what's right for you and your baby. Shop around until you're happy with the advice you get.

7. Labour is nothing like on television.

8. A new baby is too little to know the dishes aren't washed and the dirty clothes are piling up. Don't stress about the little things. (This is advice that I'm great at giving, but not taking. ;) )

9. You can buy the most expensive toy in the world, and they will get so much more pleasure out of the box it came in. (My 16-month-old's favourite toys are: a mini broom, the toilet brush and an old nappy box.)
