View Full Version : Foetal Heart rate slow @ 6 weeks 5 days
Hi Everyone,
I had an ultrasound yesterday, which revealed that my little one's heartbeat was very slow at 60-80 bpm and should be double that around this time. I have to have another u/s in 2 weeks to see if there is any change.
Just wondering if anyone else has had this experience and what the outcome was? I would like to know what I can expect from this news.
Thanks very much.

I just had my first ultrasound on 4/27 as well ... I measured at 6 weeks and 5 days ... baby's heartbeat was at 70bpm (supposed to be at around 120?). Not a good sign. My doctor scheduled another ultrasound for next Wenesday (7 days post first u/s). I'll let you know what happens.
In the meantime she told me absolutely no working out (I was going to the gym 5 days a week up until now -- doctor said that was okay at first). Other than that, there is nothing we can do but continue to eat right, rest well and love our babies as best we can. The worry and concentrating on a not-so-bright outlook will not translate into anything good for baby.
I will return and update with results on Wednesday.
By the way, my pregnancy symptoms have - in the last couple of days - subsided ... no more breast tenderness or morning sickness ...
Hi SamZhang & Christina,
Christina - I have replied to your email. Hope you receive it. Good luck with your u/s tommorow.
Sam - My outcome has been sucessfull. I had my second ultrasound and babies heartbeart was up to a very normal 150 bpm. How many weeks was your wife when she had the u/s??? Im asking as I recently found out that between the 5th & 6th week of pregnancy, the heart undergoes major structural and functional changes, the tube like shape is developing into a heart with 4 chambers. Now i consider this to be a MAJOR event in the life of an embreyo and surely would cause some stain eg. a slow heartbeat between the 5th and 6th weeks... This concept however was not expained to me by my obstetrician (which has really upset me, and I have decided to look for another obstetrician)
I wish you both all the best of luck.
