Hi all
My beautiful baby girl is just 6 days old and has been bottle fed since birth. She started off really well having around 40-50ml each feed and meeting her quota. The last day in hospital and now 2 days at home she has been very slack! She rarely wakes demanding for a feed and if she does wake for a feed she will only take 20-30ml and falls asleep again! The nurses said to wake her after 5 hours to feed but she really isnt hungry. I have been given a quota of 400ml per day...yesterday was 365ml with a lot of work! Does anyone have any suggestions or have experienced a similar problem?? She has plenty of wet nappies, very content and put on weight b4 we left hospital....

Congratulations on your baby girl! If dd goes back to sleep while you are giving her a bottle , burp her half way through it, tickle her feet or someone else told me to get a wet face washer to put on their face to wake them up.

If dd is having lots of wet nappies, putting on weight and is happy then it sounds fine. All babies are different some drink alot and some drink less.
Are you having a midwife come out to visit you - after I came home with dd a midwife came out to check me and dd and weighed her so maybe you can bring up your concerns with her otherwise contact your local health care clinic they will be able to help you with bub.

Hope everything goes well

My DS had a few problems feeding at first and as a result hated drinking his milk. From about week 2 to 12mths he never drunk the amount he was suppose to, but he gained weight.
As long as your bub is happy and gaining weight I wouldn't stress too much abou the total milk she is drinking.
Good luck
