I have one that has coloured spots on it. I think it's a steelcraft... I find the tray sits too high, and my DS is tall for his age. I highly recommend you don't buy that one...
Maybe take your bubs to the shop and sit in a few different ones and see how you feel once you have done that. I wish I had done that, but didn't think about it at the time...
I think i got a "el cheapo" from babys galore. Its so easy to clean and folds easy too. If i take the tray off the high chair slides under the table too so that DS#2 can sit right up at the table with us. Which is really good. Im actually going to be getting another one for DD very soon :D

well i have the fisherprice aquariam one. Its awesome.
It has adjustable heights, it has a reclining feature so if bub falls asleep whilst feeding you can just recline it.
It has a cool musical thing that clips in so that while they are waiting they can play it, it has two teething things that hang off the side, it has wheels so you can roll anywhere in the house.
They are on sale at toys r us at the moment to. they are half price for $125. I love it! here's a link

I have the Ikea Antilop Highchair, It is very easy to clean, no nooks and crannies, a big plus with my messy eater

I have a steelcraft Messina. Really please with it. It has a leather look seat (so it doesnt date or have pictures all over it) goes up and down, reclines and I just vaccum it out. No probs. When DS was smaller it use to have a insert in it to boost him up and I use to just chuck it in the wash once a fortnight.
Think we paid about $150.
ETA The tray comes on/off with a one handed action which is handy if you have the baby or something else in your hand

This is my choice too... for me the most important thing is easy to clean, and I haven't found anything to beat it on this score.
I was thinking about maybe getting something from Ikea, but we don't have it in NZ.
I like the Aquarium one!!!!
Oh sorry didnt see you were in NZ, theres one on trademe at the moment its in Christchurch but its bidded up to $68 and theyre only about $50 new lol

We have the healthy care but rather than the Aquarium version we have the Linkadoos.
Really easy to clean, has 3 tray inserts so you just wash them at the end of the day, one handed tray removal, recline which is good while they are little & 7 adjustable heights.
Boof would often sit & play in this as i did stuff around the house as i could wheel him through the rooms.
Otherwise the IKEA Antilop is another good chair whilst its very basic its a really good chair !

I have one I got form Target for $69 on special, its their brand but it also has the reclining feature, different height features, dishwasher safe trays (even though I dont have a dishwasher), 5 point harness, lockable wheels, easy to remove cover, and washable..plus very sturdy!!!
Any HiLo chair I think is pretty good, just check their stability!
I only got our early this year, as before we had a stupid one that the tray didnt come off (Inlaws got it for us, which was nice but they checked with DP and I had told him what type I wanted, and that y mum & aunty were going to get the type I wanted, and he said yes to that one), and DS couldnt fit into it anymore, as it didnt come off, his knees would have to bend the wrong way for him to be able to get in it!
So yeah, go the HiLo chairs. Wheels lockable, 5 point safety harness etc.... I didnt bother with one with toys as he was older, so its still used but now just as a chair at the table. It's great!

sorry to hijack, it seems the antilop gets a pretty good wrap from many bubhubbers. Is the tray a good height for a small/young baby?

The Ikea is by far the best. I had a 'super dooper' reclining, adjustable height, highchair with DS1 but it was a nightmare to clean. DS2 and DD1 had/have Ikea and I never looked back. Used it from 6months until about 2 1/2 with DS2. Still using it with DD. You do need to buy a harness to go with it. But you can pick them up cheaply in Target. Definitely a case of cheaper being better!

I so wish i had brought the ikea one now too!! Lots of people told me how great it was but i brought another brand off ebay and its so hard to clean. Ive since tried the ikea one at several restaurants we've eaten at and im hooked. I think im going to sell mine and buy one of them..will save lots of cleaning time over the next few years!!

This is the chair I have too!
By far my best baby purchase EVER!
So easy to clean and move around too. Just a quick wipe down and its all done!
Sometimes simple is always better IMO.

Yeah it's great, I've used it since my DS was 6 months.
He's very messy and its so easy to clean and sooo cheap.
It looks very basic but it's a great highchair.

Oh and another good thing about the Ikea one is that the legs can be taken off. We've just been up the coast for a few days, we just took the legs off and the whole thing went in the car, hardly took up any room. A real benefit with 3 kids in the car!!!!

If you have a Target over there, the Healthy Care one that some others mentioned is on sale for $149 over here, during the Toy Sale!
Not many people would see you stylishly matching, but hey choice is yours:laughing: ....park the pram nearby when people come over, on an angle so they can see the ride, beside the high chair.....
So funny....
Yeah it did suck about DP & his parents as I had to use the bouncer to feed DS in as it didnt recline back a bit....it sucked.....oh well, I got what I wanted originally NOW...(although the inlaws bought a chair for their house when DS was younger, what I wanted, for DS to use when there. As it fitted in with their formal lounge suite where it is kept. Even though we go see them once a week if that:rolleyes: ).
