Hi all,

I had my first baby who is 13 months old ( Nathan), born at 32 weeks. Weighed in at 6.6 pnds. As I am 24 weeks pregnant now, does this mean that I will come early with my second baby????? I am preparing to have myself ready by 30 weeks just in case

Also, I had Nathan within 3 hours, I have heard lots of stories about the second birth being quicker, is this really true????????? My Obstetrician's midwife made a comment after Nathan was born and said I wouldn't travel to far away from the hospital when you have your second one if I were you!!

I have already told my parents who live 7 hours away that my last visit will be in May, (which would make me around 28/29 weeks) as I don't want to be to far from home/hospital. Do you think I am over reacting? My husband just tells me he is fine with what ever I want to do.

I also told my husband that when I ring him, telling him it's time, that there is NO buggering around (put nicely). That I want him to leave work straight away. (Over reacting again maybe??) He oversees 200 staff and constantly tells me that he just can't get up and just leave. E.G.. I will be leaving work in 10 mins turns out to be 30 mins. :( I really don't want to be giving birth in the back of the car along Windsor rd Sydney.

A little worried :o

Chontel,
My first baby was born at 34.5 weeks - I went into labour naturally and I had a 4 hour in total labour (they had to break my waters and 2 hours later he was born)
. Needless to say when pregnant with my daughter I was geared up for another early one, however this did not happen.
My OB assured me all was okay but I think I had convinced myself that she would come early too so was on red alert 5 weeks before my due date.
I have to say the last 4 weeks were so uncomfortable (probably because I had not experienced that before!). ANYWAY she was a week overdue and I asked to be induced with gel on my cervix as I was having unbearable back pain.
My advice - BE prepared for another early arrival, but also be prepared to go full-term.
Oh - my second labour was only 45 minutes after they broke my waters, though not sure if this counts as I was induced.
Good luck and I will stay tuned to hear what happens. :)

Dear LouLou,

Thank you heaps for your reply :p

You know, the thought of going full term had never entered my mind  . But I will definatley get myself prepared for both senario's now.

HOLY MOLY, 45 mins for your second child (Gemma). Mmmm now that does make me a tiny bit worried. Did you travel far from home/hospital? I'm having this baby at The Hills Private Baulkham Hills the same hospital I had Nathan, but when I went into labour with Nathan (my waters broke at home) we had to contend with peak hour traffic. The hospital rang me on my mobile phone wondering when I was going to get there.

I will let you know what happens

Chontel :)

Hi

My baby was born at 30 weeks prem weighing 1.58kg/3.8pounds. I was in labour for 30 mins. My waters broke in the toilet, I got up waddled back to the bed and her head was on her way out. The doctor didn't believe me when I said I had to push now! 3 pushes and she was out. The doctor had to catch her, she shot out like a cannon.

I am really nervous when I go to have a second baby. Not sure if it had anything to do with me having A negative blood, had to have 2 anti d shots during pregnancy.

Anyway good luck with your second. :)
