Hi.... just wondering if anyone has used Bankstown birthing centre and how was your experience??? I just had a faint :bfp: this morning.... :smiliedance:

I don't know anything about Bankstown unfortunately, hopefully someone will come along who does. I have heard St George BC is very good - if you are near there as well - but you need to book in there really quickly: I have heard stories of people being unable to get in there by the time they were 8 weeks.

Absolutely - Birth Centres have such a great rep over hospital labour wards that they are filling up fast. It never hurts to book in - you can always change your mind later.

I'm going to Bankstown BC, however it wasnt how I thought it would be - ie I was expecting a completely seperate centre and system but it is the same as the normal labour wards, only there is a natural birthing suite alongside all the regular ones and I was told that when you arrive to give birth you can request this suite/room and if it isnt being used you can use it. This room has a normal double bed and is a little more homely than the others, the bathroom is a little bigger with like a corner spa bath. The midwife told me though that you can have a water birth in the regular birthing suites/rooms too. I'm still happy to birth there though because the midwives I met when I went to check it out where so nice and so supportive of natural childbirth and women's ability to birth without a heap of medical intervention.

Thanks for the info.... i guess that doesn't seem too bad.... :) I definately want to go check it out now that you've said they are supportive of natural childbirth.... I definately want a waterbirth....now all i need is my :bfp: .... :) Calling up this afternoon and hopefully they'll have my results.... :fingerscrossed:
