View Full Version : When did MS end for you??
Hi there
I'm 12 weeks tomorrow, have been sick as a dog for 6 weeks, unable to work or look after my family, been in and out of hospital for IV hydration and have lost nearly 10 kilos so far. With my previous pregnancies, MS has ended at around 14 week, but I seem so much worse this time, I'm terrified it will go on longer. I'm so miserable!
When has other peoples MS ended??? Life is just awful right now :crying:

Ooh, I so feel for you :hugs: I felt like I was living in hell when pregnant with both kids. With DD the ms stopped about 14 weeks, with DS it wasn't gone until 20, and then it came and went for another 2 weeks :barf: The worst thing about severe ms is that nothing really works - I tried ginger beer/capsules (which worked the best, but still not much), eating small meals, dry bickies, carbs, Maxalon etc etc with no real relief. All I can say is to hang in there - you will probably be sickness free in another month or so. I know a month is a long time, but what else can you do?
My first pregnancy it ended bang on 13 weeks but I had nausea until I gave birth and had to avoid certain smells/ tastes etc.
This time around I only had it 2-3 times and it ended pretty early
I hope it ends soon for you it is horrid:hugs:

Nearly 4 months for me, I just realised one day I didn't feel sick anymore.
I had severe m/s from 6 to 12 weeks, nothing relieved it for me either. Even Maxalon did nothing. I was so miserable it really messed me up. At 12 weeks it eased some so I was having may be two hours in the day when I could actually move around without dry reaching or vomiting. Week 13 was ok then it came back (not as bad) and finally left at about 16/17weeks.
I know how terrible it is. I couldn't even look at the computer or TV until 12 weeks - everything made me worse.
You have to watch food/drink that might trigger it too. OJ and no/low fat milk made me puke and tap water gave me stomach wind. (I still can't drink them at 32 weeks)

21wks of really bad MS with #1
#2 & 3 were just a couple weeks of mild and this number#4 has been 2.5wks of really rough MS that has just started to ease up.
Its just right miserable isnt it? I say to DH thats it like there is nothing else in my life but nausea - the rest of the world is non-existant for I care. Especially when you already have children to care for:hugs: Does any medication help at all?
Thanks everyone. I'm 13 weeks tomorrow, and after another stint in hospital this week, I'm just starting to feel almost human. Hang in there everyone!

hi:wave:
for me the morning sickness never stopped with either of my kids.
with my first i had it the entire 9 months but i returned to work from 6 - 8 months 2 days a week but even then i still vomitted at least 4 times a day.
with my second the entire 9 months non stop.
i spent probably 50% of my pregnancies in hospital with both of my boys.
hope your morning sickness ends soon. believe me most people don't experience morning sickness (hyperemesis) as in my case anything like i did.:)
:fingerscrossed: it ends for you soon :)
Mine ended as soon as I gave birth. I was sick several times a day for the whole 40 weeks with out fail. For the first 3-4 months i didnt leave the house except to go to the hospital and doctors.
It's very very depressing.
I hope yours goes away soon. I woudn't wish it on anyone.

It sounds like you have hyperemesis not just morning sickness. I had this condition until I was five months. With a few hospital admissions and finally some very helpful drug therapy (Zofran) I was able to keep food down and return to a slightly normal life. Have a chat with your GP about Zofran, it's pretty expensive but if you are on a health care card I think you can get it at a cheaper price. Good Luck darling............I empathise with you. xxxx

My sypathies are with you all! With my DD, it lasted from 6-20 weeks, then started again at 32 weeks. I couldn't eat any of the foods I enjoy without it coming back on me. Luckily it wasn't severe enough for me to be admitted to hospital.
This time I must be about 8 weeks now, for the last week it's been pretty bad, I've barely been able to eat, and I feel like I have a hang over every day, I think I must be dehydrated this time. I'm off the the doctor shortly to get something for it. Sustagen helps a little, at least I have something in my stomach.
Smells are really getting to me though, DD is still in nappies, and I have to change cat litter.

I went to the docs the other day and last time I went which was over a month ago I weighed more but I've only lost a few kilos not as much as you !!! Poor thing :hugs:
Has it stopped for you now (sorry I didn't look to see what date this thread was written)
Hope you are well and truly over it .:sunshine:
Hey there
Belated update, I was fine by about week 16, and everythings great now, baby is doing well, only 10 weeks to go.
Hang in there all you present suffering sickies, for the majority of us, it does eventually get better! And for those that cop it right through, pregnancy doesn't last forever either .. thank goodness..

It ended for me when I gave birth, at 36 weeks. Hope it ends soon for you though as I had to be in hospital on a drip through parts of the pregnancy and it made the whole experience miserable. Also added to the anxiety since I couldn't work while I was in the hospital and I still had rent to pay and bills and buying things for the baby. Her sperm donor dropped over 2 second-hand bottles to his sister's house and she told him that I would be breastfeeding and won't be needing those. He told her that I'm ungrateful then if I don't use them, and that's the extent of his help in setting up for a baby. But I hope the MS ends soon, if it wasn't for that it would have been a good pregnancy and brilliant birth so it does make a lot of difference to the pregnancy.
I started getting m/s from 6 weeks - it hit me hard, I could barely eat and when I did it came back up a lot. Even water was hard to keep down. I lost 4kgs (which is a worry because I am only small to begin with). At about 14 weeks it started to ease and the nausea went away. I am almost 16 weeks now and getting better. I still have trouble eating properly, but I'm better than what I was. Each morning I still have to bring up stomach acid when I get up, but the rest of the day I'm usually fine. Some nights I might throw up when the 'urge' comes over like a wave. I am hoping things will keep improving.
The things we go through for a beautiful bub! It will all be worth it.
With DS, started week 9, ended week 11
This pregnancy: Started week 5, ended week 14

Mine lasted the whole way through. It ended as soon as I had my DS and I turned to the OB and said "Oh my god! I feel normal again."
I HATED being pregnant.
I am actually dreading getting pregnant again because I don't want to experience it again but what you get in the end is definitely worth it.
#1 - MS consistently until 28 weeks.
#2 - MS consistently until 20 weeks, then a break for 13 weeks, then again til a week before they were born
#3 - No morning sickness just nausea
I had MS for 8 mnths of my first pregnancy, and was still throwing up at the hospital when my second arrived.
Unfortunately, I was just not one of those blessed to have a "wonderful" pregnancy. :barf:I am however blessed to have 2 beautiful children, so all in all, it was worth it. But, having said that now, I really doubt I could go through that experience again, especially having 2 children to care for when I feel so sick and sorry for myself.
Hang in there, it will be over and then you get the beautiful prize. :yelclap:
I felt nauseous all the time between 6 and 14 weeks.
It eased at 14 weeks because I think the placenta takes over at that time?
