Hi mumx3littlies

Congrats on becoming an Aunty!!

My DS was 6 weeks early also, and 4lb 11oz. We found it hard to find clothing to fit him for at least 6 weeks, we didnt realise there were online clothing stores that sell premmie clothing (google it and there should be heaps)- that would have made life so much easier then rushing around the shops looking for stuff :). Maybe you could even see if the stores will deliver straight to your sister in NZ??

Other than that I cant think of much. I remember we were very disorganised with getting all the big things sorted (car seat in car, setting up the nursery etc) but thats a bit hard when your in another country. We decided to buy a movement monitor in place of our standard monitor as having a premmie was very stressful and it helped ease our minds knowing we had the monitor (some premmies are put on monitors 24/7 for a little while in the hospital).

Hope that helps :).

Congrats on becoming an aunty and that's a great weight for 6 weeks early. My twins were born at 32 weeks and only weighed 3 and 4lbs.

They don't really need clothes while they are in hospital as most times nothing will fit them anyway and they are usually in isolettes for a while till they can maintaiin body temp etc. and the hospital normally has clothing for them anyway.

If you choose to buy clothes you can check out earlybirds.com.au, they specialise in premmie clothing. They do grow into 00000 or 0000 quite quickly though. The thing I found most useful was just having people to talk to about how I felt. Maybe even something for her, because she may be feeling guilty why she came early.

I'm sure your neice will be fine and so will your sister, but remember it is a stressful time for her.

Thats nice of you to put so much thought into what to get there baby , as the others said sll clothes wil be too big unless you go to the preper premie shop wich is really expensive, another idea is the tedy baer clothes in pumpkin patch they are made for th teddies but are lot smaller then the 00000 clothes stil a big but not huge

If bub is hooked up to any machines wires tubes etc, its a good idae to take that into consideration when buying clothes the stuff that bittons up straigh down the front is easiest that way no fidleing around the head and also easy eccess to wires and stuff,
