Hi, Im not sure where exactly to post this but today i had my 18-20 scan and the operator looked at the brain for a very long time. When i voiced my concern she said that it was common to see a small cyst, and as there wasn't anything else to be seen it was not a cause for concern. She said the doc would overlook the scan and if he wasn't concerned i could go home. She assured me that all was okay and we went home not needing to see the doctor. I go back to see the clinic doctor for my normal hospital appointment in two weeks but feel very concerned and am hopeing that someone can shed some light and explain this a little more in depth for me. Thanks:fingerscrossed:

Try not to worry too much about this. My Dd also had a couple of tiny cysts at her 18week scan and it was all nothing, she is almost two now. From memory they are just part of the brain developing and you will most likely find that if you had another scan around the 31 week mark, that they would have disappeared.

What the ultrasound person would have done is checked for other soft markers (ie like clubbed feet) and its only when these other markers are present, that there may be a concern of a bigger problem. However as your operator said, she couldn't see anything else, so that is a good thing. You make find that your Dr may order another U/S later on, but they don't standardly do this.

It is quite common, I know of a few friends who had it with their pregnancy, but for some reason, its not written about much. Try not to let it worry you
