Hi,
This is my 2nd preg (currently 19 weeks and 4 days) and I should know but I didn't really seem to get many braxton hicks last time so...
I've read you can get them from 20 weeks but for the past few days I can just be sitting or lying then its like my belly etc goes tight or feels tight and I feel it all over my chest etc as well (if that makes sence). My actual tummy doesn't feel tighter to touch, just the feeling is there.
Is this early braxton hicks? A normal pain you get at this stage? Something else?

Any suggestions would be great Thanks

Hey Gizmo

I'm not sure if what you are feeling are braxton hicks seeing as I have never felt them before either

But...when I had a quick scan at 16 weeks to check up on bub the sonographer told me I was having a braxton hicks contraction, she could see it on the screen  I have never heard of this before, certainly not that early, but perhaps it does happen and you're just feeling them now???

Don't stress...I'm sure it's nothing :hugs:

Hi

I'm preggers with number 4 and it sounds to me that it's braxtons that your feeling. I'm 21wks now and have been feeling my braxtons for around the last 2-3 wks. It's different for everyone, sometimes they can be painful tightening just like an early contraction and other times you will just feel your tummy tightening. I've heard of a lot of women who never even feel them.

I weeded the vege patch last week and stood up to feel a rock in my belly!

Didn't hurt, but I did think that all the bending over didn't agree with bubs! At least until I researched it and found that braxton hicks contractions start about now and can be brought on by physical exercise!

All normal apparrently!

Don't worry! I get heaps of them!!!
I was a bit worried as have been getting them loads since 20weeks or earlier and didn't remember this with my other pregs (this is #3).
But I'm told it's normal.
:)
Must say though, mine are not terribly comfy at times. Don't exactly hurt, but they're not pleasant!

Had the worst braxton hicks the other day. Had spent most of the day in the pool, wasn't doing alot, just swimming gently, then the family and I decided to walk to the shops, on the way back, I nearly had to park my behind on the side of the road because the pain was soooo bad. Excerise and the baby just didn't agree.

This is my 2nd pregnancy too and from about 20 weeks or so Braxton and his Hicks paid me a visit and really do like to keep in touch on a semi-regular basis.

Sometimes it's how you described - a tightening sensation, other times it can be a bit painful and make you want to stop and concentrate on your breathing... oh the many joys of being pregnant :D

Hi again,

Just a quick question for anyone experienceing braxton hicks later on in their pregs...

When you get them do you actually get like a hard bulge visible on your bump? Like I will get a feeling like a braxton hicks and all along I have thought it was some part of bubs pushing upwards as its like a hard bulge. Now I'm wondering if this is actually braxtoin hicks instead?
Or can my bub pushing really hard against me cause braxton hicks?

Thanks for any help...

I have actually wondered the same thing.
I am nearly 38 weeks & I havent had any painful braxton hicks at all like i did with my last pregnancy but I do sometimes get what feels like a huge tightening, but I can feel what feels like bub pushing my belly out the front. Sometimes I can see a bulge & sometime I just feel like there is one if that makes sense...
I have just assumed it is bub having big stretch yet I am also wondering why I havent felt any BH yet.
