Grrr - I keep finding little insects in DS's bottle either as I'm shaking it up or when I'm feeding him. Tonight I found a dead mozzie in the bottle as I was feeding him (yes, I chucked it and made a new one). It's so frustrating. I wash all the stuff in hot soapy water, rinse and steralise them. I don't know if they are getting into the steraliser, the bottles when I pour the boiling water in or where. :hair:
I don't think there's much to worry about if has swallowed some formula with a mozzie or miggie floating in it but it's just so annoying!

Mmmmmm soy formula with a mozzie floater :barf:

How often do you clean out your kettle? Does it have a strainer type thing just before the mouth of it?? Do you leave them to air dry?

Hi,
The kettle's got one of those strainer things in it. Everything goes straight from the steriliser into a box in the fridge. They must hide in the steriliser when it's not in use or suicide in the bottles of boiling water when I pour them.

Can you like drape a tea towel over the steriliser and bottles while cooling so that there are no more kamakaze (sp) insects?

definitely double check your kettle though - I have one with a strainer in .. and it made no difference .. (i freaked too .. after finding an icky in Jack's bottle) ..

I guess its not going to hurt too much (probably eat worse things on the carpet/ outside play) :hugs:

 not really funny, but same thing happened to me last week. I was wondering why DS was sucking for a while and not hearing any swallowing, I had a look at the teat, and there was a little bug blocking the hole! poor bugger!

Musta flown in there when the water was cooling to prepare formula.

Doesn't matter what you do... The little buggers find a way...
I am pedantic with cleaning and still find things that shouldn't be there...

I've rinsed out the kettle and didn't let the bottles cool for very long tonight so I'll see if he gets anything in his feeds tomorrow.
I get the feeling he's going to be the sort of baby that will eat anything. He sucks down his soy formula and warmed watered down prune juice like there's no tomorrow. I'm sure in a few months I'll be like the mother on the babylove nappy ad and find him happily chewing on a snail.
He's even started to hold his own bottle now as though he's scared it might get taken away. He hasn't worked out yet that it's better if you open your hand rather than hold the bottle with closed fists. (I always keep a hand on the bottle.)

That is so strange. I have been finding little black bugs in DS bottles now and again too. It is so gross and I don't know how they are getting in there either. I soak in hot soapy water, rinse them, then sterilise in the microwave.
