HI
I was Induced at 37weeks due to PE... i only knew as this was at my routine anti-natal appointment.. high BP & protein in my urine kept getting higher always BP failed to settle.
I had huge amounts of swelling also(odema)... not nice at all.... but I only had a mild case.. so im lucky compared to other women.
Now my question how likley am I to get it second time round Im just preg now.... & im hoping for a VBAC this time.. so induction is not an option there...
Thanks

As far as I know from my experience with PE, if it started as late as yours did theres a good chance it wont be repeat but everyones different so really theres no knowing.

some things can affect it though for example: if you were a teen parent the first time and are no longer a teen... less chance of having it second time

if you have a new partner you have the same risk of having it as you did the first time which i think is around 10% of pregnancys get it

if you are over 35.. increased risk

I'm not sure on others but thats my knowledge.

I had severe pe first preg.. diagnosed 30w4d delivered 31w.. my son was IUGR as placenta hadnt been working properly for a while

My second pregnancy I had severe hypertension but NO PE... I made it to 35 weeks that time

and my third pregnancy I had PE that started at 19w5d but I made it to 38w6d for scheduled csect... so it was a hell of a pregnancy but we made it to the end

So in some ways mine got better each time (for bubs sake it did) for me tho it got worse.

Everyone is different... I had a different partner the second time.. but third time was same as second....

Best of luck!

Ok, this sounds weird, but - they generally say if it is the same father you are very unlikely to get it, but if it's a different father then chances are as random as first preg.

Having said that... My boys have the same father and DS1 was induces a month early cause I was quite sick with PE, and then at 30 weeks preg with DS2 they thought I was getting it again, but I cut out all junk from my diet, ate fruit, veges and fresh meat, and excersised everyday and my bp dropped dramatically, and swelling decreased....

My step-sister-in-law also had PE with her second baby and delivered 14 weeks early due to that... her little boy is healthy and thriving now a few years on....

So basically - I don't think they know!!!
