I need to find a good doctor for Isaac. We had a great doctor in Queensland who was really helpful and wonderful with Isaac.

He has his twelve month immunisations coming up, and I know anyone can give him them, but I'd like to find a doctor we can get familiar with, and feel at ease. Ooh, and one that bulk bills would be a bonus.

Any suggestions? We're on the north side of Canberra, but don't mind travelling to the south for a really great doctor.

Thanks.

Where on the northside? Depending on where you are, will depend on who I recommend ;)

im on the south side and go to tuggeranong square medical center and see Dr Rasaratnam, he is fantastic, he also bulk bills for all children under 16.

also you can go to the health centers for the immunization they are free (you still need to book in though) and the lady's there are great and they do it all the time so they are very gentle.

i will pm you the contact number for the community health centers.

If your looking for a peadiatrician (sp?) you really can't go past Dr Rossier at Calvary Clinic, but he's pricey.

For immunisation, I go to Florey Medical Centre. The nurse there has five boys of her own and she's terrific. She doesn't rush and the kids don't have bruises after - and they bulk bill. You have to book, though.

One of the doctors at the Ainslie shops also has a qualification in paeds. Can't remember his name, though, but he's good. David something, I think.

It's a big hike from Dunlop to Tuggeranong!

Give Julie Hewitt at Macquarie Medical Centre a call - she's fabulous. She also bulkbills littlies.

Otherwise, our wonderful GP's are at Palmerston - we see either Prad Southi or Sandy Viketos. They don't bulk bill, but they have been our GP's for over 10 years now and my kids ADORE them. They are both fabulous with the kids.

David Batagol!!! I remembered!!!! He was good when I had issues with Liam, but he like to refer to private specialists, so take it with a grain of salt.

He was also REALLY supportive of me when Zoe had her operation. I had a lot of confidence in him at the time, but I found he got a bit burnt out at the end of me seeing him.

A word of warning - many of the practices in Canberra have closed their books for new patients - we had trouble getting in anywhere until I remembered that as a former patient of a practice I would still be on their books (we lived here 4 years ago). Even then they wouldn't take our children. BUT - the Ainslie Family Medical Practice did - I rang and explained that we had small children who needed a doctor and the office manager was wonderful and agreed that small children shouldn't be without a doctor. They don't bulk bill routinely but have bulk billed me on occasion and have been very good with the children.

I just found an ad in the Gunsmoke newsletter (it's the Gungahlin newsletter), advertising the Ngunnawal Medical and Skin Clinic. It says that they have a practice nurse for Baby Health and child vaccinations, as well as there is 2 GP's there (one is qualified as a dermatologist too). They are at the Ngunnawal Shops, ph 6242 0029.
