my dh says i'm obsessed....but i just cant seem to work out if
a) hunter hates the swaddle, needs arms out, is upset and therefore wriggles
or
b) needs the swaddle to calm his wriggling down
i'd love 2 stop swaddling. its funny how he doesnt need it in our bed? but to put in his cot after feeds we still do it
i'd prefer he was just in a sleeping bag....but think thats because it would b easier to pick him up from cot without hurting my wrists more....that way i could get him up by lifting under armpits etc......
plus i love the snugggggly feeling you get with sleepingbags
what are your bubs doing, aug ladies??
Still swaddling here..even when awake half the time. She's freaked out by her arms.
DD1 was swaddled until she was 9 1/2 months so I'm not planning on stopping until DD2 really lets me know she doesn't want it anymore.....it stops thumb sucking habits at least!
Nope never did tho.
Both my kids, even in the hospy when the middies kinda take over and start swaddling just do not like it.
By this i mean if i try to restrain the arms, even if i leave the fists out, they work themselves into frenzies.
I read on another thread here that sleepschools advise if any dramas with sleeping you should swaddle, even if bub is 12 weeks. That bub may show signs of frustration and resist being swaddled but will eventually calm down and sleep better.
I beg to differ, mine just work themselves up and do not settle down, longest i have tried was 15 loooonnng minutes and she was so red and breathless from yelling. Not for my kids.
Mine have both been sleeping bag bubs from day2 and 3 (ie home) and i dont think they slept anyworse than how bubs just sleep.

jamb.....
thats my theory.....maybe hunter hates it? farked if i know tho
thing with your bub sleeps though is they are 100% cosleep right? hunter doesnt need swaddle if he cosleeps with me, but he needs it (maybe..) when i am putting him in cot....hmmmmmmm
mammy if it helps after 6 weeks it's just a comfort thing...they don't have the startle reflex (or whatever it's called) anymore. DD1 it was her comforter and she wouldn't go to sleep unless she was wrapped.
Maybe try him out on day naps and see how he goes?
mammy, we do cosleep at night and i would if i could during the day but catboy wants to join in, but he just wants to do the co part not the sleep part!!
when we cosleep, i just put her next to me with her own blanket, i cant sleep with her on me, i like my space.
in the day i put her in a bed (either ours or ds's as they have electric blankets which i use to warm up so its nice and cosy). she is in there now and usually sleeps for and hour and half plus. if i was to put her down where it isnt warmed up, say cot/pram/snugglebed she wakes up- she likes to be warm this bub.
she does startle herself awake but seems to resettle if there isnt another reason to not, ie. wind, food. i often hear her waahhh but sometimes she goes back to sleep on her own, so i tend to wait. it soon becomes obvious if she aint resettling, the volume goes UP big time:laughing:
god luck, experiment away!

DS nearly 13 weeks, still swaddling here:yes:
I have no intentions of stopping until he gives me the indication he's ready. He sleeps through the night :smiliedance: (has done since week 4) so as you can understand not going to mess with that!!!
Every baby is different, just do what feels right for you. Mum knows best:thumbsup:

Julius does the same thing, (he is two days older than hunter).I normaly swaddle him & give him a dummy & walk around until he sleeps, then put him down to rest, he seems to sleep longer. When he sleeps his arms fling & I dont like the look of it.Normaly when he is awake I let him go without but for sleepy time I swaddle him unless he is going to bed with me.
I wrap Aston to sleep, but if I wrap him with his arms in he throws a big tantrum... He hates it! Now that it's getting a bit warmer, I am starting to not wrap him as much. He seems to sleep fine either way

Ava gets swaddled at night so her little arms and hands dont get cold...but during the day i just cover her with a cotton blankie and she has her arms up by her head...sometimes she wakes herself up when she flaps her arms around....hate that startle, reflex poor things :(

I wrap Wes to sleep or he keeps waking himself up with his arms flapping around. I don't wrap him when we co sleep though and just hold his little hands together. The couple of times i have tried to put him down not wrapped he woke in 5 minutes so now if i want him to have a decent sleep i wrap him  . Oh and he does protest a bit until he is on the boobie or has dummy in and cuddles then its all good  .
