Our pets are vaxed. Living on a farm brings about all sorts of issues when it comes to animal disease, so we have had them done. I guess it is comparable to a non-vaxer choosing to vax if they are planning on spending extended time travelling in third world countries.

That said, I don't have the same issues with my pets receiveing vaccinations that I do with my children. There is no "vet" chastising me to get it done according to the schedule either!:p

I do!

We get letters addressed to our cat (which always makes me scratch my head before I realise what it's about!). They usually say something like...

"Dear Miss ***** (our surname),

You are overdue for your flu vaccination. Perhaps your parents have been very busy, or have forgotten that your annual health check is due. Please urge them to ring us and book you in. We would have for you to be exposed to the cat flu blah blah blah"

I do too, I delayed my cat one for 6 months recently, as I heard that its not deffinately necessary for them to have boosters once they have had all the kitten ones, but yes, that letter kept hounding me, so I gave in and got her done....

LOl at letters written to pets! I think because our vet is also a friend and runs a large animal surgery, rather than a small animal clinic may have something to do with why we don't get those.

I have in the past (I don't have a pet currently), and will again.

From my (admittedly limited) understanding, it is incredibly rare for an animal to have a severe adverse reaction to a vaccination... and that is good enough for me.

Its not important enough for me to spend many hours researching as in the case of my children

Our dog also gets letters reminding him to have his immunisations. They are signed by our vet's cat. Wacky.

Yep, I certainly do.

Why? because when I got her I lived in one of the highest parvo areas of Sydney.

And I wouldn't have been able to take her to puppy school, or breed her or take her to the park we go to if she wasn't vaccinated.

Benefits outweigh the risks on this one! Too easy.

That is too cute! I thought getting a letter addressed to a cat was cute, let alone a dog recieving a letter FROM a cat!

Sorry just had to add my old vet used to do the letters to but they were actually addressed to my animals eg. Dear Mr Mcfurs <insert surname>.

This used to make me giggle no end because imagine the postie looking at the name " Mr Mcfurs "

They were also signed by the mascot of the surgery which was a dog but no signature was attached just a paw print

We don't vax our dogs as a rule.....but there have been a couple of times they've been to a new dog kennel and we've been required to show proof of vax status, so we've had them done. I can't see why it's necessary to pump them with vaxes every year:confused: They are both fit and healthy and have never (touch wood) had any of the dog diseases. One of them is deaf as a post but she is 14.
