Today was so hot and DS was sweating so I gave him some cold EBM from the fridge that I had produced this morning.

He had a few gulps but then just wanted it from the source. I'm not sure if it was the temp or if it was the bottle as I have only just started giving him EBM. I gave him cold calcium fortified soy milk yesterday and he drank about 100ml of that with no worries.

Does any one else give cold EBM?

I've given cold EBM (not freezing cold, but room temperature or slightly cooler) before with no hassles, when heating it was not possible. I think it's more about what the baby prefers - I don't think it can do any harm. I'd be disinclined to give a baby soy milk though, I read some very disturbing stuff about soy milk not long ago (shattered my belief that it was a healthy option!) - I'll see if I can find the reading material; I'll post it here if / when I do.

Any breastmilk (so long as it isn't spoiled breastmilk) is good breastmilk!

Thanks for your advice.

I've done a lot of research on nutrition and evidence suggests cows milk is much worse for humans than soy. Cows milk is associated with illnesses and conditions like athsma in humans. I've read a lot about soy, and the negativity surrounding it is mostly from a small study done by one person to do with soy supplements, not the milk drink. There are actually even soy baby formulas for bubs who are lactose intolerant, or whose parents don't want them consuming animal products.

I appreciate your concern. But I'd rather give my bub nutritious soy milk over the milk of an animal any day (apart from human milk :D)

I always give EBM cold. I figure, why make a rod for your own back??
