Hi girls, this is my first post since joining bubhub this morning,

Im just wondering what you all do/did after bubs first morning feed at around 5 - 5.30ish. Aspen just wants to play and mummy would like another hour or so sleep. This morning I popped her back into her bassinet and she played with a little giraffe I bought her yesterday. I didnt go back to sleep but managed to rest for an hour which was great.
My sister was telling me of a friend who's boys still wake at 5.30 and they'd be about 4 or 5 - she told me not to get into the habit of letting her start her day so early.
thanks

My sons the same! 5.30 and you want to do is sleep and all he wants to do is play.Well what i have started doing is feeding re wrapping and putting back in his cot. He then plays for about 5 minutes and goes back to sleep. Is your room dark enough maybe it's to bright so he thinks the day has started..
After doing this Lochie tends to sleep anywhere from 7am to 9am, and so do i :D

It's apparently really common for babies to wake around that time. In fact I generally try resettling Rhys rather than feeding him, because usually he's not really hungry, just awake and wanting to start the day. That said, we've reverted to needing an early morning feed of late so this is what we do.

I treat any feed before about 7am as if it were a night feed. Fed in his room, dim light, no chat, gently rewrapped (only partially unwrapped for feed anyway), night nights and back into bed. Sometimes he's asleep as his head hits the cot, most times he'll lay and chat for a couple of minutes then drop off, sometimes he'll chat for half hour and then go back to sleep, rarely he'll protest and need resettling, on occasion its a losing battle - but then sleep really hasn't been our strong point.

We also have the room really really dark because we stuggle with sleep in the light (too many distractions). I actually thumbtacked 3 pass blockout lining to the top of the window frame and have tacks that go into the bottom as well to block out all light. This made a huge difference for us.

Hi girls
Thanks for your replies. Our room is very bright in the morning despite our thick curtains. When she goes into her own room i'm sure it'll be better as its much darker and doesnt get the morning sun. I like the tip about treating any feed before 7am as a night feed - i'll do this from now on n see how we go.
