DH and I were talking last night and he said everything so far has been focused on having the baby but he is a bit lost on what happens after that and could we get a book.

So yay for my hubby but now I need some help with what to buy.

He would like something that covers development stages, when they do what and I guess general parenting info.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Anything by Dr William Sears, Pinky McKay or Deborah Jackson would be a good start :)

I can especially recommend 'When Your Baby Cries' (Subtitled '10 rules for soothing fretful babies and their parents') as a must have

Oh, and 'The Baby Book - Everything you need to know about your baby from birth to age 2' by Dr William Sears.

I quite like "Baby's First Year for Dummies". I read quite a bit of this book before I had DD but I found it more useful to refer to it once she was born.

I also like "Baby Love" by Robin Barker.

I had "What To Expect - The First Year" and I found this very helpful, I found that if I had a question in my mind I could look up the index and there was an answer.
It's quite general, I have other specific books for crying issues, sleeping issues, feeding etc etc, I am a baby book junkie! But you might not have any crying or sleeping issues :fingerscrossed: so a good general book is best to get first.

I too love this book. Robin Parker is actually doing a talk in October at Warringah Mall Library in Brookvale for anyone in Sydney. Tickets are only $4! Will be worth going.
