View Full Version : Latest on the toy recalls
Can't find the article, but I read on the weekend that Mattel has apologised to China for blaming them for the recent toy recalls, as the problems were actually design flaws and not concerns with lead paint. :shame: Shame shame Mattel.

There was an apology issued, but the lead paint was the fault of Chinese manufacturers. Mattel recalled 20 million toys. Only two million were affected by lead paint, while the other 18 million were recalled due to design faults. So the manufacturers are still at fault, but not AS at fault as Mattel led the public to believe.

I guess it all comes down to the larger companies being willing to turn a blind eye to bad practices as long as they can increase their profit margins.
Didn't I read somewhere that lead paint was found on toys that came from a US manufacturer?
That didn't get much media play, did it? Guess 'cos they weren't commies!

The recall must have cost millions. My DD was distraught when she had to return her Polly Pocket magnetic doll house and another set ... bonus is, she got a cheque in the mail yesterday and she is now eagerly planning what she is going to replace it with.
