good article janet!
i fed alice to sleep until she was 7-8 months old (after which time she would still be wide awake after every feed, except the night one when she would be sleepy and drift off on her own a short time later!). she is a great sleeper now at 18 months, and very secure. i always felt that the "don't feed your babe to sleep" line was a bunch of codswallup myself!!! :D

If my little dude is tired and sad because he wants to sleep but can't, guess what I stick in his mouth :D . It is like a magic button that you can push to calm bubba down.
Thanks for the article Janet.

I, for one, know that the breast still works to meet all of a baby's needs, including the need to be calmed. Remember: You're not managing an inconvenience, you're raising a human being.
Here, here!! I too cherish every little bit of breastfeeding-especially those lazy feeds when my babe drops off to sleep but continues sucking for up to an hour.AAhhhh-there is nothing that compares with the contented face of a 'breastfeeding whilst sleeping' babe.

I agree! I know I've really done a good job when that happens.:D

Thank you. Now I know that I am doing it right by b/feeding until my DS sleeps or is settled.
Thank you again
I used to breastfeed my daughter to sleep until she was 11 months old. She then just started to crash on her own without it and then we only had day and early evening feeds. That was her choice and she weaned off that particular feed herself. But it was the way to go with her and she was able to go still sleep on her own without it when she was older. With my son, I often just plug him in when he cries. If he does not want the boob, he just has a cuddle and settles and if he does want the boob he goes for it. The best soother there is. He sleeps so well and is just so peaceful and relaxed.
