Hi everyone,
I just wanted to tell everyone about our fantastic day we had yesterday. It was Harry's first birthday party and his naming ceremony. We had family arrive from all over Australia and it was wonderful to have the majority of both our families together for the first time in ages.
We had Harry's naming ceremony at a local beach then a party back at home. We awoke to a beautiful day. On the beach it was a little windy but the sun was shining so I didn't care about the wind. We had a celabrant conduct the ceremony and including Harry's Godparents reading a poem that my father read to us as kids and the Grandmothers reading sayings that they found themselves. The celabrant asked each of Harry's Godparents, Grandparents, us and even our friend watching the ceremony is we will take a loving interest and help the parents to surround Harry with love, (thank goodness everyone agreed :) ). At the end of the service the Godparents, Grandparents and us all got certificates and we got a copy of the service.
Dh and I were extremely happy about the ceremony and felt very loved and happy about bringing Harry into our community of family and friends. We only invited people who Harry has meet and who have something to do with him in his life. We wanted to surround him with love and his own community and we feel we achieved that.
We then had the most wonderful lunch and much drinking to finish off the day. Everyone enjoyed themselves and Harry was the centre of all the attention which he loved :p .
This was exactly the type of welcoming we wanted for Harry into our family and am very happy that we choose a naming ceremony. The whole day reflected us as a family.
I just wanted to share our day with you all, hope you enjoyed reading.
