New Birth Centre - Kingaroy

Hi All - just thought I would pop a quick post in here to let all know that there is a group working very hard to start a birth centre in Kingaroy

The group is called 'Kingaroy Friends of the Birth Centre' (KFBC) and are very much on track for a new birth centre (hopefully 2008) - have produced some great results so far ie floorplan, meetings with Qld Health etc

If anyone is interested in more information, please do not hesitate to contact myself

Thanks Bron - it is hard to know what we are meant to post about and what not!

Anyway - I will leave this up for a while to see if we have any general interest - at some stage in the future I might start a new thread with more info but will get in touch with you guys first to see how much info I can put where.

I lived in K'roy all through highschool (and a little after). I think a birth centre would be brilliant and very successful! Just what K'roy needs! Good luck

Hi there - thanks so much for the support. It is really encouraging to know that people want the birth centre, gives you the motivation needed to make it happen.

Please feel free to mention it to anyone that you know who is still living in the South Burnett. We have plenty of information availble for those who need it.

Hey Jess, is this still happening??? Mark said he saw a flyer for Kingaroy Friends of the birth centre the other day in Graham house.....but then he thought it might have been Toowoomba, not Kingaroy...or Dalby lol....men and details:laughing:

Yeah Ffrenchstar,Toowoomba also has a friends of the birth centre, they are trying 2 get one there 2:) I think if u check with Maternity Coalition they can tell u other areas they are aiming 4.

Ok so Toowoomba has one....hmmm, I was thinking about Toowoomba as it is closer than Brissie but I think I wouldbe better off going to Brissis as there are family/friends there to look after the kids....Are you saying they are stil trying to get one in Kingaroy?

:) ur welcome I hope the general SEQ area gets a few more birthing centres, they are well needed 2 give women better choices as well as taking the strain off hospitals(with all the low risk births that can go 2 BC)

Yes, I agree....I have had my last 2 babies at the BC in Brissie and dont want to go back to the 'normal' hospital.
