Does this saying mean anything to you?

Being driven crazy by the door (actually called the Fisher-Price Laugh & Learn Learning Home)?

I'm writing a piece on the many and varied Fisher-Price talking toys in my house that are slowly driving me nuts.

I'd love to hear which ones you have and how they're paving the way to insanity for you with your kids behind the wheel... :D

Yup, I can definitely relate to that one along with "counting, counting, counting is such fun" Drives me insane!

But the worst thing of all is the Fisher price stacking pots, "lets make carrots and peas, then we'll have some cheese! Who would like some more, dont forget say please!" Aaaargggggggg!!!!!! Over and over and over again!

Oh I know that saying, 'open up the window to a colourful place, red, yellow green, put a smile on your face..........' so many fisher price toys, so many sayings that get stuck in my head.

That and a few other things she has a furby and that thing is always telling the same jokes and saying co-ck-a-doodle-do

I brought that for Summer when she was a baby now Taliyah is using it all the time and that 'counting, counting counting is so fun' does my head in :banghead:

Oh I know what you mean. I hate that damn Learning House toy... actually I hate all of the talking fisher price toys because they're all the same English woman's voice! ARGH! *tears out hair*

I also hate that if you lean/put something on some of the toys they just keep on muttering away until you move the object... it's particularly annoying with an activity table!

I've got one of those Fisher Price baby keyboard things that makes all the animal noises and plays songs. All the animal noises are normal but the bear one is this weird 'raaa' noise, and doesn't sound like a bear at all.

Very weird....

My current problem toy is actually a Gund one - a soft hammer that, when hit on a surface, makes the sound of breaking glass. The house next door to us has just been demolished and they have been cutting down trees etc in preparation for the new house to be built. The other day in the midst of tree felling I heard all of this glass breaking and went running out the back to see just how much damage they had caused to my garage......only to discover it was 10 month old DS hitting his hammer up and down in the lounge room!

But on the Fisher Price theme - the talking saucepans drive me mad, but the cot toy with the Hey Diddle Diddle theme is a shocker - it goes off when something brushes against it in the middle of the night - but only plays one line per nursery rhyme or one animal noise, so it feels like it has an attention deficit condition - jumping from one tune to the next with no completion!

Oh, yes. I hate it when they do things hours after the kids have been playing with them. When the door starts to die a slow battery death... weird things happen.

My son has a Fisher-Price talking stuffed dog thing (why does everything the grannies buy always talk? I wonder if they're getting us back?!). The dog goes off all the time by itself and says really gut-churning things like, 'I love you!'. At 10.37pm, that's just evil.

lol!! I love the house, i really love singing all the songs,it drives everyone else insane but it has never anoyed me for some reason, when its on the ABC sounds it annoys me though.

The toy that annoys me most is this little round dog that makes several different noises whenever it is moved even the slightest touch, even a clap of thunder or a footstep on the carpet! "Weeeeeeeeee, woof woof woof!"

Alli, I thought your dog had died!

Let me explain...

The Rainbow Bridge is where pets go where they die isn't it? I am sure I have heard that.

and there have been a few posts lately about people's beloved dogs dying, very sad.

When I saw the heading of this thread I thought were you saying that the Rainbow Bridge was busy because your dog had died too.

****, I am going crazy, sorry, ignore me.

you have cats anyway.

OMG! You guys are on edge! I can't believe the door has hidden messages! Maybe we should play it backwards? It probably says things like, 'Buy more Fisher-Price. You can never have too much...'.

It was the duck that died, Shed (the noisiest, most offensive toy ever made that popped eggs out its backside. Again, from guess who...? Grandma!!!). :shame:

 You're doing better than me - I thought it had something to do with the Mardi Gras....

"And heading into Oxford St just now folks, is the famous Rainbow Bridge float...."

I don't have too many problems with the Fisher Price repetitive-voice-woman. I do however have a doll my MIL bought from Crazy Clarks that says over and over "Zip it up or zip it down - here's where my secret button can be found." Secret button?

OMW stop it :hair:

That house drives me mad :hair:

Now I'm going to have the songs suck in my head all day

 Hey does anyone why the voice is a English lady?

Mrs Potts
22-09-2007, 09:38
I was thinking exactly the same as Shed re the Rainbow Bridge!

And I have to say that I much prefer the English woman than the American one that's on some of the FP stuff we have from when DS was a baby. At least she says zed and not zee.

But Alli, my main thought was what you already mentioned - the middle of the night gremlins that set the toys off at all kinds of insane hours! We have the Activity Puppy (it can be used like a walker and has stuff to do on the front). When it's pushed it barks and then whines like a crying puppy. Often we'll be sitting in front of the telly and it will start whining for no apparent reason

As for repetition the worst one we ever had was the Twirling Whirling Garden. That thing was pure torture! Lucky for me my best friend from Perth came over with her baby daughter who instantly fell in love with it. I promptly packed it in her bag for her to take back to Perth - never to be seen again!:D

You stole my one Alli - at least the house has an off button and you can reduce the volume - that dog has neither!!! Lots of fun when you kick it in the middle of the night and it goes off! It's also super sensitive - when it's packed in the back of the car it makes us giggle hard. It also has the ADD thing with being able to jump from one paw/song to another

Another of C's favourite was the Wowee - it was the round ball shaped things with legs and again used to crack us up with it's "woweeeee da dum dup" and "he he he he he he" all the way home from wherever we'd taken it - fortunately has gone to god now

Oh Im pretty placid for most of them and just switch off or something EXCEPT this damn Leapfrog Caterpillar thingo that MIL bought DS for his birthday thinking it was just a pull along toy. I'm sure it says "I am Editon and I am here to inspect your floors" as Ds pulls it along. I can't remember what it actually says I removed the batteries and put it away for later :devil6: I keep telling DH its a little old for DS just yet and hopefully they will all forget about it

I'm too sensitive to those sorts of things and become almost homicidal (or plasticidal) with repetitive bits of wimpy voiced songs. I don't have any toys that do that. Yet.

Asher has been beeline for the annoying things lately so, while I am being strong and authoritative so far and refusing to buy any, I suspect the Elmo Tool Bench will find it's way under this Christmas Tree this year. You know what would really suck? If he discovered The Wiggles' section in DJ's toy department ...

As in, you've conveniently lost the batteries, or you're smart enough not to buy the ones with batteries in the first place?

I 'accidentally' lost the batteries to the doll my parents gave my first when the second was born. Hello! the thing wee'd and poo'd. As if I needed another thing weeing and pooing all over my house. A two year old and a newborn were more than enough, thanks! :D

Just to answer the curiousity of everyone, The Rainbow Bridge is the cross-border traffic bridge at Niagara Falls, between Ontario Canada and New York USA. So now you know!

(I'm very glad we don't have any talking toys after reading this, but we do have some noise making ones!)

For us its the FP Train - silly things plays that circus music constantly - now DD is 4 and DS 2 it had been packed away but the wee buggers found it again - (I hid it today though :devil6:)
DD had that cookie jar too :freakingout:

We also had a FP Dinosaur which I quite liked the noises on - well mainly the Roar it did

We don't have many noisy toys these days - thank goodness the days of FP are past!:smiliedance: the only thing we have that makes much noise is the chuggington roundhouse which isn't bad and the horn on DD's Strawberry Shortcake car which squeeks and shoots out a burst of strawberry smell:yes:
