I was wondering if someone could help me & put my mind at rest at all.
As you all know, I am currently 17 weeks pregnant, Im getting some flutters but no real strong movements & I thought 2nd time round I would feel it quicker & was so looking forward to it.
We have a 15 month old Daughter and when I was pregnant with Charlotte we felt flutters at 16 weeks & at 17 weeks there were real strong/feisty kicks.
As im 17 weeks now & it doesnt even look like I will be getting any kicks soon, did this happen to anyone-else? Could it mean its a boy this time as Ive heard they are less active?
I heard the baby's heartbeat on monday so I know its still there but am a little worried why im not getting kicks this time.
Hope to hear from someone soon.
Sam
Hey Sam,
It could very well be the position of your placenta, do you know where it is? Mine is anterior so movements are going to be felt probably a little later than others. That could be the difference between your two pregancies?
:hugs: Here's some hugs. Don't stress, it'll happen!

I'm 20 weeks and still only feeling "flutters", nowhere near real kicks. Some days I don't even notice the flutters they're so faint.
I am just assuming I have a very quiet baby who sleeps a lot :) (yay!)
I'm sure it's absolutely nothing to worry about.... my OB doesn't even believe you can feel any movements until after 20 weeks, and thinks women who think they do are telling a fairytale. And this is from a man with 35 years' experience as an OB! Clearly he's never been pregnant himself, but it's generally accepted that 20 weeks is about normal to feel noticeable movement... it's a bit early to worry yourself IMO.

I am 20 weeks pregnant with #2 & I'm not getting anywhere near as much movement this time round as what I did with my first.
Last time I was feeling movement at 16 weeks & by 20 weeks had definate kicks (some of which I think could be felt by others), but this time I am only getting tiny flutters every now & then. I usually get maybe 3 or 4 flutters in the evening & thats about it.
The sonographer did mutter something about the position of my placenta at my last scan, but I didnt think much of it as I knew she would have said something if it was a problem.
As for the boy/ girl thing, you might be right! LOL. I had a girl last time & I have a feeling this one is a boy, so that might be the reason!

Sorry, not having a go at you at all :o, just find it funny that a man would claim to know better than mums all over the world
To the OP, it can be a worry huh? With my first, I can't remember exactly when I felt what, but I think I felt flutters around 17 or 18 weeks, and then kicks around 21 or so.
With this one, I felt the flutters really early, at about 13 weeks (I have loooong babies though!), so was thinking by now I would be getting thumped. Well, I am 19 weeks now and still not feeling much more. Its hard not to worry, but I remember vividly my first kicking the **** out of me and never stopping, so I am trying to relax and enjoy :)
Oh, and as for the boy/girl thing, I was thinking the opposite... my boy was VERY active, so was thinking maybe this quiet one is a girl :o

When i had my 20 week scan i still couldn't feel DD2 but could see her move heaps on the screen. With DD1 i felt kicks and movement at around 18-19 weeks.
As you can see i ended up having two girls so don't know much about boys being less active then girls, i would just treat it as an old wives tale.
As for the OB, 35 years of experince doesn't compare with actually being pregnant for 9 month and then going through labour. He may know the theory side of things but has nothing on the practical side. You would think that he would know that every baby and women is different.

Whoops, I made my OB sound really obnoxious and he's not... he's really the nicest man I've ever met, albeit a little old fashioned. I think he was tounge in cheek with the fairytale thing, you know, teasing sort of, one of those odd senses of humour. I feel like I badmouthed him! Just trying to make the poster feel better.

I usually feel the bubs at about 15 to 16 weeks... This is my 7th and not a thing yet at 19 weeks.
Ive Never not felt one after 17 weeks... so I guess every pregnancy is different :)
Hope everyone that isn't feeling their baby gets to soon... It is a reassuring thing.

Hi
I felt number 1 (boy) at about 15wks, number 2 (girl) 10wks, number 3 (girl) at about 9-10wks and this one, number 4 (boy)was later at about 17-18 wks for the first flutters. I'm 21 wks now and can feel good kicks.
