Who makes their own fitteds?
How do you do them? For example do you just use a really absorbant material for the whole thing like the BB bamboo fitted. Or do you different materials for different layers?

Well, does anyone know what kind of material I should use for the outside layer that will help it to hold it's shape? Is a cotton print from spolight etc ok?
that'd be ok but not really necessary. the absorbent material all over would be just fine.
i'm still planning mine, but i'm going to do double layer bamboo terry, and flap booster, and a liner sewn in on one end only

I've made some just completely out of bamboo fleece and they have stretched length ways, they still fit if I fold over the top and use the smaller setting of snaps I put on it, but I'd rather them not stretch. I hang them out the right way on the line too.
I prewashed the fabric and everything.
The prefolds I made have stretched too.
I thought mabye if I had a cotton outer or something, that it would hold it's shape a bit better:detective:

I use good quality quilter's cotton, like from a patchwork shop. It can be a bit more exy, but the print quality is better than SL, and won't fade as quickly.
fire engines (http://i140.photobucket.com/albums/r25/hoopdeedoo/firetrucks.jpg), pooh bear (http://i140.photobucket.com/albums/r25/hoopdeedoo/poohbear.jpg), inside pulled out (http://i140.photobucket.com/albums/r25/hoopdeedoo/DSC00026.jpg), inside flat (http://i140.photobucket.com/albums/r25/hoopdeedoo/DSC00025-1.jpg)
Generally I have the print on the outer, which holds perfectly ther is little to no stretch in the fabric, then a full body of bamboo or hemp, with 2 layers zig zagged in the wet zone, then a lining (usually cotton rich fleece), then a large snap in with 3 layers bamboo, one of lining, then another small snap in of 2 layers of bamboo.
These nappies last my boy's through the night because they do most of thier weeing when they get up :)
HTH :D

Oh and now I do the main snaps onto the bamboo hidden layers and the outer print before sewing so that when you sew the lining it hides them :)

I cannot believe you made those:eek: They are AMAZING!!!! I am so jealous now and inspired:yes:
Did you use a pattern or make your own, it looks soooo perfect!!!!!
With the zig zagged in layers, are they just stitched down the middle and the edges free or is the whole thing stitched down?
I'm going to be looking at those pics all night, you are soooooo clever!!!!!:yelclap:
those ARE simply beautiful!!
what a pity they'd go under a cover. perhaps i'd change often, go without a cover, just to see that beautiful nappy

Thank you :o
I do hate covering them up, but it's not too bad if it's covered by my MIL's hand knitted shorties :p It's my own pattern, I had to make some XL nappies for Noah because the BBBs are too small for him now.
Um I zig zag the 2 wet zone layers to the full body layer of bamboo before I sew it all together because then you can't see it on the outside.
On the fire engine nappy I zig zagged the bamboo body layer to the print in the centre to see if it made any difference to the overall nappy, but I decided it's not needed, and then it's annoying to me if it's not exactly centred :p I'm a bit strange but little things mean a lot to me
