My 10 month old keeps waking up at night and is very unsettled. I pick him up and rock him back to sleep and as soon as I put him in his cot he wakes up, starts crawling around his cot and crying. When I pick him up he goes straight back to sleep and so the pattern goes until I give up and feed him to sleep or I let him cry in his cot for a little while and then try again. This takes HOURS and it is getting a little tiring and I am not quite sure what to do!!!!

Has he only just started this? All of my children around 10 months went through an unsettled stage where they started waking, as tiring as it was persistance was the key with putting thme back to bed and eventually they got the hang of it again and slept through.

My DS started doing the same thing about 6 weeks ago or so and he is nearly 10mths old. I couldn't figure out why he was waking and I was up for 2-3hrs at a time every night too (and a walking zombie!), I know how tiring it is.
For the last week he is sleeping better than ever and is back to normal, I dont even hear him most nights now, he sleeps right through without a sound :smiliedance: . :fingerscrossed: this continues.
I have heard babies can have periods of night wakings when they are about to reach a developmental milestone. DS started commando crawling a week and a half ago and since the day after he started he has been sleeping better. So, whether there is any truth in that, who knows!! Im just glad it's back to normal.
So hang in there, you'll come out the other side soon and it will get better, it's just one of those periods I think!!! Good luck.
