Have you fallen pregnant on Metformin? If so were you told to stop taking it as soon as you got your :bfp: or were you told to continue taking it for the first trimester of the pregnancy.
What was the outcome? Did you go on to have a healthy pregnancy, or did you miscarry?
Thank you!
Poll coming
I chose other:
I was on metformin when i got preg... and stopped when i got my BFP - but still only 8 weeks, so cant comment yet on anything else...
but my Dr advised that i stop it, so i did :D

Um....Mel! Shame on you for not coming into TTC #2 thread and telling us you were UTD!! :shame: CONGRATS!!! :smiliedance: Ill let the other girls know...
EmsMum, Im not pg yet, but was told by my endo that the current "trend" is to continue taking it at least until end of first trimester. However, I think thats because we pcosers have a tendency to have low progesterone, so if you're taking progesterone supplements, I dont think its necessary to continue with the Met. Personally, after doing my own research, I will most likely take it throughout the pregnancy simply because it lowers the risk of GD. Good luck!

Thanks Britt,
I've had 3 positive BFP's (on HPT's), but the doctors test yesterday was negative  . I'm trying not to get my hopes up just in case, but I'll be very surprised if I'm not because all the signs are there, and today I feel very sick. Thanks for the info re Metformin. I'll check on the Elevit pack about progesterone, I'm pretty sure it's in there. My last pregnancy earlier in the year Dr told me to stop taking it, but I lost the baby. Although that could have been due to a number of reasons. I just want to do the right thing to ensure a healthy baby.
I will announce it this morning! :smiliedance:

There has been a study that suggests that women with POCS may have undetected or underlying diabetes. Metformin is a treatment for diabetes and therefore given to women with POCS. The study is below.

I was taking Meformin everyday for gestational diabetes for the last 15-20 weeks of my pregnancy.
Im not sure if there is a problem when taking it while bub is growing but I know there is no problem with taking it further down the line.
Hi,
I chose other cause my Ob said to stop taking Metformin when I fell pregnant. I went through the 12 weeks with no problems. Even though I lost my baby at 20 weeks this was not at all to do with stopping taking metformin.
This is a hard decision to make. Some people say stay on metformin cause it can reduce miscarriage but others say it is not good to keep taking metformin. I stopped and will stop again when I fall pregnant again.
I hate the to do or not to do questions, its all so difficult. Whatever decision you make is the right one, okay!!!
Good Luck and CONGRATULATIONS ON THE BFP. I am so jealous of you!
