Hi all. My DS is almost 6 weeks old and still on Avent number 1 teat size. I tried the number 2 size a couple of weeks ago (supposed to be used from 1 month old) but, at that time, half of it ran down his face, so I switched back to number 1. But how do you know its time to go up a size?

I changed mine every 3 months. Hope that helps. :)

I've only just changed from Avent 1 to 2 now and my DS is 3 months. He just wouldn't suck from the 1 teats anymore. I tried to give him the 2's when he was one month but it just ended up in a big mess. I figure that if he's happy sucking and there's minimal mess then what's the problem? Hope that's helpful.

My DS didn't take to Avent 2 teats till he was 2 months.

The other way you can tell, is if they become frustrated when feeding. And this frustration isn't normal. DS was becoming quite annoyed when on the avent 1 teats. So i changed to avent 2 and he has been fine.

It's driving my batty at the moment though..he is still on avent 2 teats and he is 4 months. I want him on 3 teats, but it just seems too fast for him. He gulps alot and then has serious wind pains for days. But he loves the three teats.

Sometimes it's matter of trial and error. You could try the avent 2 teats for a day or one feed and assess the situation. If it's not time, then try again in a week.

Hope that helps.

Isn't motherhood fun!

DD started on No2 Teats (came with bottle, I didn't know there was a No1 teat). She went up when the feeds started taking longer than usual (like instead of 5-10 mins, it was taking 15-20 mins).
